Hi. I'm a 52 years old and hence, have been following Gordon Lightfoot since he began. He comes to Halifax September 19. The tickets went on sale here last Saturday and, lo and behold, I was the first in line.
I could have had a front row seat but I opted for about 5 rows back in the centre, fearing the stage may be a little too high for a front row seat and one might be spending the whole concert "looking up" too much + the sound might be a little more spread out being a few rows back.
Believe it or not, I have never seen Lightfoot before so, needless to say, I am really excited about seeing him.
Though I know different venues have different setups, did I make a mistake by opting for a seat a few rows back?
Thanks & always enjoy a person who really makes me proud to be Canadian.

Rod,
When we sat in the front row at the Keswick Theatre on April 14th it was the first time I had been "front row" for a concert. We did have to tilt back now and then but the absence of people blocking the view more than made up for the slightly stiff neck at the end. Your seats should be great and you're probably right about the sound. Have a great time and be sure and post your review.

Several years ago Gordon played at the Anderson Center at SUNY (State University of New York)in Binghamton, NY. By the time I called for tickets, they told me the regular seats had been sold out but they added two rows of folding chairs indoors, the only other alternative was seating on the lawn. I bought a ticket for the added seats indoors, figuring it might rain, and also figuring that-- not knowing the layout of the place-- a row way in the back was better than nothing. When I got there, there were no added rows in the back. So I thought I was going to be stuck outside. But when I asked an usher about the row I was supposed to be in, she pointed out the added rows. UP FRONT!! Talk about a happy accident-- I ended up about 10 feet away from him as he played. It was really neat! It felt like a coffee house. Originally, I had wanted to be about five rows back for the same reason you do. Don't worry about not being up front, as long as you enjoy the concert. And that can happen from any seat in the house.
