POSTED ON 07/04/07 INSIDE CITY HALL Lightfoot helps lighten Pitfield's campaign debts Failed mayoral candidate Jane Pitfield, who ended up with $250,000 in campaign debt, was serenaded this week at a fundraiser at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, and not by provincial Tory Leader John Tory, who did say a few words. Singing legend Gordon Lightfoot, whom she counts as a supporter, sang If You Could Read My Mind. "He actually went home and got his guitar and came back," Ms. Pitfield said. "He just did the one song. You could hear a pin drop." She says he invited her to a concert of his at Massey Hall, just days after she lost the election, to cheer her up. "I have said that the one benefit of losing the election was that I met Gordon Lightfoot." |

Ya I saw her down in the lounge at intermission at the Massey Hall gigs, for that matter I also recognized a couple of people from the 1999 Much More Music video in the crowd as well.
She was in an upbeat mood having lost the election a couple of days prior :) |
Gord is the stuff, a legend and a scadzillionaire and he "Steps up". That is where my admiration comes from.

there're two ways we can all get old.. I like the way Gord does it.. |
There is no official video from Much Music, I turned my VHS copy into a DVD. I emailed MMM about it sometime ago, if they would rebroadcast it or make it available, I was told " NO".
