What's the funniest thing you've heard Gord say during or after a concert?

The second thing was during CRT. Gord had been joking around more than
usual in between songs, but never during a song. The band had been
chuckling about something during the second half, and it wasn't until
later I found out that some guy on an aisle seat in the center had
fallen asleep. Anyway, Gord got to the pause "and many are the dead
men......." when he uncharacteristically pointed and loudly said
"AND THERE'S ONE NOW!". The place went nuts! The band laughed,
Gord laughed, and everyone went crazy! I don't even remember if he
finished the song , but he must have. I sure can't remember ever
laughing that hard at a concert, especially during a song!

Funny story Charlene, lol I can just picture that. :D I myself cant think of one Kelly.

He's done this at many shows but when he talked about almost forgetting the lyrics he had written for "Carefree Highway" in his glove compartment. :)

That and calling Big Blue "a whale of a tune"! :rolleyes: :D

While retuning his guitar during a concert (which is a rarity), he uttered "Big, Bad, Belligerent B".

He actually told this joke once:

"I come from a large family, because my mom was hard of hearing - every night when my folks went to bed, Dad would say 'Well, do you wanna go to sleep, or what?' And Mom would say 'What?'

True story - I've used this one a few times.

That is a funny story, Charlene. Sounds like Gordon has a bit of a silly sense of humor, ay? I like people who are not afraid to be spontaneously silly once in a while [img]tongue.gif[/img]

This isn't really a "funny" thing but I think that, at the 8/4/06 Concord, NH concert, I heard him introduce The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald as the song "about the boat."

Anyone else there hear that too?

The thing that cracked me up, My Name is Ann, is that when he said it, he turned it into the quintessential Canadian question by adding "eh?" at the end.

Hi, Halocat. I heard the "big family" joke back at Tanglewood (MA) in 1976--it's been around awhile, like most of the rest of us!

Thanks Jesse and Sundown. This was only my second GL concert and the first was at least 15 years ago so this was the first time I heard him, oh so casually, refer to The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald as the "one about the boat." ;)

He probably woke from the lauaghter but didn't know he was the reason (unless whoever he came with told him about it.)

Here's one that I witnessed at his first New Orleans show in 1977, although I don't think it was meant to be funny.

It was his first stop on that section of the tour, and while it was a very good show, there were a couple of miscues. As the show wound down, Gord had slung the twelve string and began to introduce CRT. Everything was going just fine until he looked to Terry and noticed Terry had his electric guitar on his lap. Gord stopped, looked puzzled, then muttered , "Aw S***!"

He switched guitars, then said, "Well, I forgot one folks." Then he started SUNDOWN. After that he reslung the 12 and introduced CRT. The audience begged two encores, so we didn't care.
