Been listening to that 1965 concert and there's that song 'Echoes of Heroes' on it. Anyone got the chords for that?

Hello, put your capo on the third fret. I actually had to think about that, because I'm used to having my guitar down-tuned a half step for Sundown, so that the G chord on that song becomes F sharp. Anyhow, with the capo on the third fret in standard tuning, or the fourth if you downtune a half step, you'll get the starting chord of C if you play an A chord. You should be able to find the other chords from the song by playing D, E, and possibly other variations, but that should get you started. Keep in mind though, that he's using the twelve-string here, so higher notes that you might hear are because of the paired octave strings on the twelve string.

In my limited experience, most of the songs you hear can be handled using the good ole 1, 4, 5 chords. I am listening to The Auctioneer at the moment, with guitar in hand and I can hear those 1, 4 & 5 chords ringing out, with the 2 chord in there too.

1 4 and 5 chords? What are they? Are they just C, G, and D, but with numbers? The auctioneer is played so that you G chord becomes a B flat chord. It's the same capo position of Echoes Of The Heroes.

Matthew. Yes, in the key of G 1.4.5 chords arw G C & D. In the key of C they are C, F & G.
Take the G major scale: G A B C D E F# G
You can see the first note is G the second is A etc. The 1 chord is G the 4 is C the 5 D. as a matter of interest the 6 chord is Em which is the relative minor in the Key of G. You will find that if there are other minor chords in a song they will usually be the relative minor chords of the 4 & 5 chords. So in the key of G the other minor chords that could crop up would be Am the relative minor in C and Bm the relative minor in D. I tend to use the 1,4,5. term because we all can,t sing in Gordon's key, I do The Auctioneer, without the capo, and use G, C, D & A ( 1,4,5 & 2) http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif
