Do any pickers out there have tabs for the instrumental bridge Gord plays on "Restless?" I've slowed my Live in Reno tape down several times to try to see where he's playing but I can't seem to work it out. Anyway, it's a great song (my all time Lightfoot favorite). Thanks!

Yes Martin I saved it from the long defunct site that Matthew Fifer used to have. plus I saved an mp3 of him playing the bridge. Unfortunately neither the tab nor the mp3 can be posted here and as you have not registered or otherwise disclosed your e-mail addy always assuming you do have one I am unable to help you further . But should you be able to e-mail me at
fowlesjohn@hotmail.com I'll see what I can do

I too, have been in this same predicament for quite some time.Though I do my own improvised version of the bridge,I would sure like to know the right way.Perhaps I could e-mail Prof. Fowles if He would'nt mind??
I used to correspond with Mathew Fifer many years ago,I have many Gord songs with tab I got from him, unfortunately Restless is not one of them.
Restless is also one of my favorites. It is one of many that still gives me the bumps...

I know the feeling Iron as soon as Mike sets up that opening sound it is just incredible

And now my further reply to any pickers interested:-
OK Professor Fowles to the rescue
I am hereby replying to David (Martin D18) who e-mailed me and would have copied to "Ironman" who said in part above:-
Perhaps I could e-mail Prof. Fowles if He would'nt mind??" I wouldn't have minded but like Martin you too Sir gave no e-mail addy???
but he is obviously another fellow who wishes to remain anonymous
anyway I recently discovered that on some old floppies from my early surfing days back in 1997)I had saved a number of pages from Matthew Fifer's site as well as the restless tab and what I think is Matthew's wav file. This got me thinking because there are still a number of music sites around that contain outdated links to his pioneering GL site. I recently managed to communicate with him and he told me that his site was a demo only for his then university students so when he moved on he abandoned the site some years ago. I would like to try to rebuild the site and archive it on my own site, so will be e-mailing those that I think might have saved some of his pages and/or digital photograph collection. Meanwhile and to help David and Ironman I have uploaded Matt's index/opening page plus the tabindex page and the 4 tabs that I found I had saved. (He had listed 5 plus restless but I did not save CRT or The Wreck)
Hope this helps
So far only the relevant link (to "guitar chords and tabs") on Matthew's menu works
but I will endeavour to add more pages as time permits.
Also for anyone wondering yes there was a time in the fair land of England when I would pick up my axe and try a litle inexpert strumming but since my January 2000 stroke I am afraid that with my weakened left side and hand in particular I cannot get my fingers around the neck to press down on the strings (although I WAS left-handed I had learnt to play on friend's guitar strung for a RH picker so got pretty good at fingering the chords but remained a fairly hopeless strummer!!!
Oh yes the link is:-

http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/matthewfifer
and when you get to the link entitled
"Restless (bridge) -- solo guitar "
you should right click on it then select "save target as"(for Internet Explorer users)(it is a small file of only 422400 bytes)
Maccies you are on your own!!!
I trust that Mr Fifer will not object to my using his material and will be e-mailing him shortly to explain

OK after googling a bit for "fifer"
I found this tab site:-
http://www.guitaretab.com/l/lightfoot-gordon/tabs.htm
so was able to get Matt's tabs for the missing two on his tab page listing (CRT and Wreck)
So now all 6 tab links work (for me anyway)
But although I succeeded earlier in downloading the wav file from the two links shown it just isn't happenning now
If anyone else finds a problem e-mail me and I will e-mail the file back to you
I also updated the link to the OLGA GL page
but not the links at the top of the 2 extra tab pages
Also Matt's original link to FAQ's is still pointing to his old site
(the contents of those FAQs are in fact the basis for Wayne Francis' site http://www.lightfoot.ca
