Here is a song that I wrote back in June 2002. It was inspired by seeing Gord at the Reno 1999 concert and then meeting him again at The Denver 2000 concert. I somehow imagine him singing these words-----
A Perfect Night ---Am I stand here singing on a stage --------G Every night I turn another page --------F-----------------------------E In the strange enchanting book of my life ------Am I've walked the path, jumped many gates ------------G And with a little luck and the hand of fate --F---------------------------------E I'm still standing here --under the lights ----Am------------G-------------Am And we are here together -----tonight I was born to write songs to sing And I love this life more than anything I'm grateful for how you're taken by my words I don't tell ya nothing you don't already know I just take my thoughts and tie them up in a bow And find a tune that fits them just right And share them with you ----- tonight Chorus --C--------------G------------Am This is going to be a perfect night --C----------------G--------------Am We're all in tune and the band is tight ----C------------------G---------------Am And all the words are coming out just right ------C------------G-----------------Am Yes, this is gonna be---- a perfect night I'll tell you about the places I've been Of mountains tall and forests green And of islands and bays, rivers and lakes I'll sing of hard men who ride the tides And show respect for the one's who've died And I'll sing a few where my imagination took flight All these and more I will share with you ----tonight I'll sing of lovely ladies whose paths I've crossed Of the precious ones I've loved and lost And I'll sing of the few who gave me true love in return Their bright shining eyes, their long flowing hair Their soft gentle lips with smiles so fair I hang on to these memories -- with all my might So I can share a part of my heart with you-----tonight Chorus This is going to be a perfect night We're all in tune and the band is tight And all the words are coming out just right Yes, this is going to be --- a perfect night I do my best to tell you ---the way I feel With this old voice and six strings of steel And I'll sing for you as long as I can It's my pleasure to return what you've given to me All the love, respect --- and loyalty But someday I'll have to slip away into the twilight But not until-- we've had a thousand more---tonights God grant me--- a thousand more--- tonights [This message has been edited by Mister hoot'n holler (edited September 27, 2002).] [This message has been edited by Mister hoot'n holler (edited September 27, 2002).] |

Thank you for your kind words. Really had to work on this one to touch all the bases.I was planning to share this song with everyone at Massey, but figured now would a good time. Paddletothesea,I've been called a fool for far lesser and far bigger things, so no offense taken.I edited my original post to show the chord progression for you. Once again, thank you. John Hooton
