OK...you can call me a dummy...but would some please tell me what the name of the song this lyric is in: I can finally see how much I stand to lose...for all these years...

The song is "All These Years" from the country group Sawyer Brown. Yes, the lead singer sounds like a younger Lightfoot -- something in noted some months ago in this discussion group.

I know the topic is old but is this true? That the leader of Sawyer brown sounds like Gordon? Let me know. :)

Yes, very much so on this song. The influence is unmistakable.
Other of their tunes, maybe a bit here and there, but "here" it's like a tribute. But that's good, not bad. And yes, I agree it is a good song. The Rez |

To this old man, Sawyer Brown did decent MOR C/W "Starsearch" hits. I wouldn't have spent any bucks on their stuff personally, until I heard the song in question.
When I first heard it, my reaction was: Gord? Then the DJ said, "Sawyer Brown." His on-air pardner said, "Yeah, but sure sounds like Gordon Lightfoot to me." So, I shelled out some sheckles. Never disappointed in that single song. Most of the rest didn't touch me, just OK MOR like the rest of CW radio then. Not any better now, still formula, for this old man's sheckles. But that one song and the Gord influence? Very Present. And there's absolutely nothing wrong w/ that. Showing who influenced Miller (who's likely somewhere on some Gord forum) is just Honoring the mentor, not copycat stuff. 'Course that just might depend on song value, too. And this particular song has value. No complains all around there. The Rez |
Not bad! :) Sort of a cross between "Is There Anyone Home" and "Only Love Would Know". (Musically on the second one,not in comparison to Gordon's voice.)
Pretty good resemblance. ;) |
