I would have to say that the song title, "Now and Then" ranks up as one of the greatest GL songs on my list. Of course there are many more, but being that I am a musician myself, the changes, peaks and valleys of that songs are ingenius. The lyrics accurately depict the troubled times one goes through during the dying of a relationship. What a great song. Also, two songs worth mentioning are "All the Lovely Ladies" and "Shadows", two very unique pieces of ingenius music.

I think that Now and Then is a wonderful song from a great album/disc that is often overlooked, imo. Other fine tracks include the title track, All the Lovely Ladies, A Tree Too Weak to Stand, The Soul is a Rock, Cherokee Bend, the hit single (Rainy Day People), As Fine As Fine Can Be.

Just thinking about those songs reminds me that it has been too long since I have heard that great collection, but the sun won't set again before I have corrected that problem!

I have to agree with your comments.

"Now and Then" may be one of his best songs in my opinion. Many peaks and valleys not only in the music but in the lyrics. Many of his songs are like this. But this one is very personal.

If you listen closely, all the band members introduce themselves in the beginning.

Thank-you for your reply. This site is truely just as unique as the music created by Gordon Lightfoot himself. And who would have not known that the listeners of his music are wonderful people themselves. I am 25 years of age, and many people find it rather hard to believe that I am not into any of the modern day music of today. The fact is, most of these modern artists did not write the songs themselves. They have purchased those songs from certain unknown songwriters. Gordon Lightfoot wrote the majority, if not, all of his songs, which therefore in my opinion deserves all the right for me to purchase his priceless albums. I just wish that more people like you and me, and 'all the lovely members' of this fanclub existed in the likings of true music. Thanks again for your reply!!!

I'm only 23 and still like all his stuff. Especially the endless wire - salute period. It's all so catchy
