It'll be 40 years on November 13th that the Yarmouth Castle burned and sank. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Yarmouth_Castle

You're welcome, Ron. It's always been one of my favorites but never got anywhere near the same play as TWOTEF.

Wow. Quite a story, Annie. Especially if you read it while listening to the song.

Annie,

Have to agree -- one of the best GL tunes written.

Cathy-
When I read this post from Annie...very early this morning...I realized I was singing it in my head while I was reading the story. Been humming it all day long. Thank goodness I like the song very much or would probably have been poking needles into a voodoo doll that I named Annie ;)

Better than the Barney song, LOL.

I really came to love Yarmouth when Lisa studied it as a ballad in her English class a few years ago. I followed along with her notes and sent a cd over for the teacher to play for the students. It's a magnificent song and the telling of the story with so much personification the ship became another victim that perished that night.
