Favorite song-impossible. I have loved his albums from the first time I heard "If You Could Read My Mind" as a teenager. I was fortunate to see him in concert about 3 years ago here in Greenville SC at the Peace Center. I was absolutley astonished to see that the place was packed with people of all ages, even children with their parents knew his songs. I feel the reason for this is his ability to write about a wide variety of emotions and human events that will touch everyone somehow. I especially like "Rainy Day People", but whenever I play his music it transports me back in time or I am truly carried away to a fuller, deeper part of myself. |
I started out being fanatical about "Carefree Highway," but now that I own the Songbook set, I have discovered many others that I love as much. "Forgive Me Lord," released for the first time on Songbook, so perfectly describes where I am right now in my life.

I can only re-iterate what I've stated previously,I used to just love only the hits but now I like something about each of his songs. Running the gamut of genius down to okay.
I can never say again I have 1 true ultimate favorite, even though I lean twords "Pony Man". Also,I can never agian say there's one I don't like. In fact,G. Lightfoot is the only artist who completely fits this category. Probably always will. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif Been me,later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ Borderstone, gonna post some lines tonight!:D |
I also like all of Tom T. Hall's work, and I can't find a single similarity between him and GL except that they are both extremely gifted song writers.
Does anyone see a common thread between GL's song writing and TTH's? I sure don't.... ------------------ "Pickin' up the pieces of my sweet, shattered dream..." |
