I noticed a new ebay Canadian item today
http://i1.ebayimg.com/03/i/06/b0/ag/8e_1_b.JPG and thought again aboat a long ago complaint by Walter Stoneborder at the lack of GL picture sleeves for singles I know I once displayed the very first (Canadian) P/S I recall seeing and buying but no amount of searching using both this site's search or even google will find it so here it is again:- http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot/yesterday.jpg I then thought of Zoneranger's recent displays of his CD artwork prowess although I have to say that he only does the more spectacular third of the job:- 1. the CD/LP Jewel case front insert/album sleeve front and carefully ignored the other IMHO essentials:- 2 a list of the album contents and 3 a suitable sleeve back/ rear insert (the latter to be complete with splines and assorted bar codes etc) Mind you those who have been here a while will recall that this was also true of the entertaining series of extra CDs proposed for Gord by Jimmy Jones (now whatever happenned to him??) starting with the famous Christmas album http://johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/glclaus.jpg and the subsequent frivolity at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...814;p=2#000050 and http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...=002847#000000 Anyway I got to thinking that maybe ZR could start another series of evocative designs for GL single releases To get the ball rolling I nominate two big hits sadly unrepresented by any meaningful picture sleeves:- The Wreck a.k.a TWOTEF and IYCRMM I have previously found an unimaginative Spanish Fitz P/S:- http://h1.ripway.com/corfid/johnfowl...ure_sleeve.jpg and this stunning piece of art which could look dandy as as the basis of a Fitz P/S http://h1.ripway.com/corfid/johnfowles/fitzsunset.jpg any other suggestions??? John Fowles Listen to the pictures flow Across the room into your mind they go a face So out of place Inside that picture frame Of lace Looking at the wall Wishing you’d call I could picture every move that a man could make ... |
Oh yeah! :) That would make an awsome picture sleeve for The Wreck Of TheEdmund Fitzgerald!
I see the title being put in the blue sky part, descending from the top and Gordon's name imersed in the waves. Wonderful. :) I wonder if Zone R. could give us a completely original Sundown sleeve that doesn't just use the LP cover or a stock photo of Gord. Something artistic like this is. I defineltly would like one for "Beautiful" that evokes the spirit of that song as well. :) |
Yet another gutless Spanish Picture Sleeve is up for auction today at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/GORDON-LIGHTFOOT...QQcmdZViewItem http://i18.ebayimg.com/03/i/05/69/74/cf_1_b.JPG and a pair of good song titles to work on John Fowles |
