I am a long time fan who enjoys playing many of Gord's tunes. I would like to find out the exact musical arrangement of "Early Morning Rain". It sounds like a six string capoed at the third fret with a base player.
I'm trying to get something close to the original sound so if you know how they did the amplification, that would be helpful as well. Perhaps, if someone is aware of another web page where this info is available,I couldget the info there. Thank You Davidg |
Hello, go to my thread called download an acoustic gord concert, and then go to the web site I list there. Early Morning Rain is there, played solo acoustic, as is the whole show. You are right with the capo on the third fret, and you tune your low E down to D, though I don't think it is absolutely necessary, though this is the way he plays it in this show.

Matthew is correct about the capo and the dropped D tuning. However, Lightfoot plays it on a 12 string. You won't get a sound like on his recordings (or live concerts) on a 6 string. That's a 12 on the La Cave recording too.
