I'm sitting here watching the Grammy's. It looks like it could be painful. Where's the class acts? I think They need a visit from Gordon !!!!! I guess I'll have to wait for the Hagerstown, MD concert in May.

Walt,
I was watching last night too...waiting for a duet of Gordon Lightfoot & Dr. Dre. lol I enjoyed Faith Hill's "Breathe" the most. The low class point was M&M with Elton John. I think what we are seeing in US society is the condition of instability resulting from a breakdown of standards & values & lack of purpose or ideals. French sociologist Emile Durkheim called this "anomie". According to him, such a society produces psychological states characterized by a sense of futility, lack of purpose, and emotional emptiness and despair. Striving is considered useless, because there is no accepted definition of what is desirable. Sounds like alot of Generation X'ers today. Durkheim felt that sudden change caused a state of anomie. The system breaks down, either during great prosperity or great depression...anomie is the same result. |
That's cheered me up.

The late Steve Allen wrote two books entitled "Dumbth". In these books he chronicles the very subjects spoken about above.
