Could anyone fill in the blanks for me?

The most recent release, "Songbook", contains a number of rare or unreleased material. A few of which I've grown to really enjoy. However I'm stumped in a few places where I can't understand the lyrics. This makes it tough to sing along with or perform for myself or kids.

Here are a couple of examples...

The song is: Borderstone, third verse.
The line goes:---------? outreaches a pain no school can teach you I can face. I've been out fumbled....

The second example:
The song is: Betty Called Me In
The line goes: "Betty called me in to say goodnight. Much to my releif and pure delight . I think that was my big love scene ?_?_?_?

Florian has the lyrics here at this site. Wayne Francis also has them at his. Actually, there has been some lively debate about the lyrics of Borderstone. You will find those you question listed as "The sorting of the reach" and as "The boarding house reach" (is a thing no school can teach you ...). Many people think there is an overdub on the recording and that's why it sounds like the second word starts with "s", but that the real lyrics are "boarding house". If you look on the Usenet newsgroup alt.music.lightfoot (using www.deja.com or www.remarq.com to retrieve old messages), you will find coherent (and not so coherent) arguments on both sides. To me, it sure makes more sense with boarding house ...

Hi thumbs,

Quick directions on how to find the lyrics:
Go to the main page (click "Home" at the top or bottom of the screen)
As the third option you will find a link to all lyrics for the Songbook-rarities.

You can alternatively use this direct link:
Lyrics to Songbook rarities

If you are looking for the lyrics to a song but don't know which album it is on, try the option "Songs" from the main page. It will give you an alphabetical list of all songs, including the Songbook rarities.

Enjoy.
