If given the opportunity to perform just one GL tune in front of an audience, which one would it be, and why? I ask this knowing that one's favorite tune is not necessarily the same one they would perform.

It would have to be "Canadian Railroad Trilogy". It is simply an epic masterpiece,
and I think symbolic of Gord's style. I still get goosebumps when I hear it. I have always equated it with the movie "How The West was Won" - Canadian-style, of course. I actually have performed it in public, and am always amazed at the reaction it gets. |

i'd love to do If I Could but can nver get that little guitar fill down properly after each verse so i'll settle for Wherefor and why. Why?. Don't really know. I just love the feel that it has.

"Now And Then" from Cold On...". When I first started playing & singing in bars this was the 1st tune I considered. I went with "circle Is Small", "Did She Mention...", "2nd Cup...", "Alberta Bound", you know, the easier stuff. I'd still like to do "Now & Then" because it's such a great workout tune for a singer. Gord's vocal on that track is one of his best, I think.
I love singing Gord's songs. The emotional content in them is great therapy if you're down in the dumps. Anyways, that's it for now. Great topic! James Hill |
Mine would be "High and Dry", because it's a good belting tune and it stays in my range. I really like Canadian Railroad Trilogy, but the end gets up and stays up in a range that really does a number on an overweight 40+ baritone.
