Just before he died Johnny cash was on the Larry King live show.He was oviously very ill. Larry asked him - Is there one song over the years that was the one you felt got away , that should of been a hit that wan'st - Mr Cash immediately answered RED VELVET. By Ian & Silvia Tyson.Mr king replied I've heard of BLUE VELVET ,but not RED VELVET.That says everything.Mr Lightfoot obviously thought the same when he slipped onto P.P.T. Its the only version I know.In truth I did not really appreciate this track until I gave it several hearings.I think its like a lot of lesser known Lightfoot songs , It gradually grows on you until its swimming round inside your head like all the other lesser know tracks he records . Interseted in other views .Mr Cash was a great human being despite his faults. and Mr Lightfoot is the Jack Kerouac of troubadours, long may he live.

Heck,I liked "Red Velvet" the minute I heard it! :) One of the 5 tracks I like the most from "Painter". ;)

I had no idea Johnny Cash or anyone had done it before. Now,I "really" think it's a cool song!
