2 songs that I think are great songs, but are different from most of Lightfoots other songs (maybe the fact that they're different is why I like them so much) are Rainbow Trout and I'll Do Anything.

"I'll Do Anything" remind me of a Hawaiian song.

"Rainbow Trout" reminds me of an old country song that might have been written and orignally recorded by a female singer. Don't know why...

I never said that Gord didn't write them and that it didn't seem like he was good enough to write them,, they just don't sound like most of his other songs is all. :)

Good question.

I get the same 'feeling' when I listen to the ones that some might call 'protest' songs. They seem sort of 'off', like he thought he should write a few but...

It's all on the listener though - each of us hears the song in our own little world, LOL.

Good question and I bet you get some interesting answers.

Bill :)

Black Day in July always stands out to me as different from his usual stuff. Its a great song though.

Good day, Fading Away. For me it would have to be , "It's Too Late He Wins." Too country, for my taste. :)

To me, the ultimate 'non GL sounding song' is Canary Yellow Canoe.

I agree with the two previous posts. Even though I do like the songs, they don't seem as GL as most of the others. I have the same feeling toward Same Old Loverman. I love the song, it just doesn't sound Gordish.

"Anything For Love" but I really love it anyway. It's a super duper double deluxe 10+.

This is an easy one for me . . . "May I"!

While I love the song, "Make Way for the Lady" it is unlike anything else he's done-more jazz or blues.

For me it would be 'Sometimes I Don't Mind'.

Sounds like it was written in a hurry to fill up space for the album.

Another would be 'Canary Yellow Canoe', as was mentioned earlier in this post.
