Hey everyone.

Eclectic music lover here, new to this site and passing through to say hello on a VERY hot and muggy day in the Chicago area. I have been familiar with Gordon Lightfoots music since I was a kid, but it wasn't until recent years that I discovered (on accident even...) the profuse abundance of great songs this man has produced. And now I am hooked on his poetic lyrics, hypnotizing voice, and catchy little rhythms... positively infectious! :) I have only listened to 3 albums so far, so I have a lot of catching up to do, but I'm looking forward to it.

Nice site!

Peace - Jen

Welcome to the site Jennifer. It must be great to have a lot of Lightfoot albums to still listen to. Which three have you heard?

Hi! Thanks for the welcome.

I currently own Gords Gold, Sundown, and Complete Greatest Hits. I am having a hard time finding Don Quixote and Lightfoot! amongst others. The compilations and greatest hits are all over. I have searched high and low in my area with no luck. It seems I might be better off ordering these online, ay?

HI Jennifer.
Most of Gord's CDs are available online in places like Amazon and Tower records. We waited many years for "Old Dan's records", Shadows, Salute and Dream Street Rose to come out (all great albums that finally did). The only CD of his commercial releases that is hard to find it his 1993 CD "Waiting for you" but you can probably find it on Ebay. Gord has a great CD of his 1969 live Massey Hall concert that I recommend. It is him captured at his best live. It is available online and is called Sunday Concert Plus (it has a few good songs that were single releases in addition to the great live show. Good luck and have a great time listening to all of these great songs.

Welcome aboard Jennifer,

I've always found CDUniverse to have good selections and great prices and speedy, accurate deliveries. I'd suggest you buy Don Quixote asap then all the rest. Have fun.

Bill - just posted @ your site guestbook. I am very impressed with what I heard. Your style is very reminiscent of John Denver and I hope you take that as the compliment it is intended to be!

Charlene + Moosedog, a pleasure to meet you. Yes, indeed, I do have a lot to catch up on!

Touhy Ave; hi neighbor! I am not really that far from you at all. I'm in the Palos area.

Jennifer 07-16-2006 11:54 PM

Well then, judging from the reviews on Amazon I'm going to agree that Don Quixote would be the next logical choice!

If you can, get the songbook. That has some unreleased songs and so many great ones. It is great to go through the individual albums, just for the flavor of the music and what Gord was doing for each one. But the Songbook has almost all of the treasures.
Welcome.
