I have a few reel to reel tapes that I would like to burn to CD, but was told a while back that the CD burners would burn digital format and not analog. The reels contain many Gordon Lightfoot songs and some radio specials from the Detroit area in the 70's. Anyone know if CD burners will record analog. I also do not have one yet, and dont want to buy one unless it will do so.

Hi there it can be done, it's a bit of a pain to do it but it CAN be done. There are a few freebie programs where you can convert LP's and Cassettes directly to MP3 format and then into a CD. Your computer's sound card needs to be hooked up to your home stereo using 2 mini plug to RCA adapter kits. Just play your cassette as normal and on the computer you record it and then process it as an MP3 and then follow the appropiate instructions to make it a CD.
