iycrmm cover photo

I was listening to iycrmm for the umpteenth thousandth time last night and took time to analyze the cover photo. God, I love that picture of Gord. He looks awful young to be singing and writing the beautiful music/lyrics on that disc . . .

Anyway, I studied the reflection in the picture. It appears that Gord is sitting in a storefront in a small town with a wide and empty street and mountains or tall hills in the background. I would really like to know where that pic was taken. Can anyone enlighten me???

Any info on the other pic (sitting by the barrel) would also be appreciated!

Jay,

I probably should not be replying, as I don't have an answer for you. But I want to tell you you're not the only one who wonders that. I love both of those Gord pics ( especially the one on the back!!) and have wondered the same thing for the umteenth million time. I, like you, will be waiting for the info..

I think that the town Gordon is in on the cover of If You Could Read My Mind,is probobly somewhere in Orillia. It only makes sense to me that,if he were to choose a setting like that for the cover, and also that the LP was 1st printed out as Sit Down Young Sranger, that he would choose his hometown. My copy with that title has a better color photo, while the other is a bit dimmer. Having 2 copies of this LP with either title,I know I prefer the original title better. The re-naming,as most of us here know, was a label decision made to sell more copies when IYCRMM became a hit single. So,as much as I like that song,I don't like the commerciality of the 2nd LP title. So again,I vote that he's in Orillia. Been me,later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif

I probably shouldn't burst your bubble, but I did ask him once where it was photographed, after someone asked over at alt.music.lightfoot.
The answer was that it was taken on the back lot at Warner Brothers.
Sigh. Sometimes it just isn't good to know the real story behind something.

Aww! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/confused.gif Well, that does make sense since that's who he works(ed) for. Now I'm thinking it might be the Gunsmoke set or Bonanza! (I hope it's the 1st,I find Bonanza to be corny!) Later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif
