Howdy from Colorado. This is my first posting. Happy to have anyone show me the ropes in this forum. Been a GL fan for 34 years. If God were ever to pic a Saint based on giving so many people pleasure and introspection from lyrical tapestry, Gord would surely be odds-on favorite.
My opening subject would be: I am a great fan of his "70's" period not for the usual reasons fans give, but rather I genuinely love to hear the beautiful string arrangements and orchestrations he and Nick DeCaro worked up. It realy put to use his Westlake College musical education. He'd be a professor Emeritus and honorary doctorate there for sure if they still were around. Mike Heffernan does amazing things with keyboards and very good synthesied strings technology; and it works resoudingly on his 2002 DVD Reno Live recording in songs like Restless and CRT

Welcome aboard Geodeticman. That's quite the 'earthy' name and will no doubt fit in with this wonderful group of "earthy" folks. It seems like only yesterday that I was the "newbie" here and after several years of having lots of fun it keeps getting better. You "just let it ride." RJ.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. Forgive me while I learn to use this forum properly and reply to each in releveant form. In absence of this yet, I hope this will temporarily suffice. If you'll all permit, a few questions were handed my way in reply to my test posting, and I'll summarize the answer to a few comments that seemed prevelantfrom several:
* my handle - geodeticman . OK it (the answer) is boring, but I had some real fun speculation on this. A few of you mixed up "geodeSic" with my "geodeTic". My profile shows me as a.. oh boy...GIS Mapping Scientist.
in real english - computer map maker, analyst, programmer, and - here it is - GeodeTic surveyor.
Geodetic and its origin - the subject of geodesy, is the study of the size and shape of the earth, its topography, and its gravity variations. Not to be confused with "geodesic" which while mathematically overlapping, is the construct that one of you thought I meant - i.e Bucky Fuller's geodesic dome and great historic colleagues you pulled some fun pics on. I really did not mean to walk my GL brethren into my (yawn) technical life , but the Q's were interesting on my name. Yes Iron, you and the rest CAN call me GEO or - I like the other asked of - G-man - I've always been government employed. (boo's and jeers and rotten vegetables being pelted lol ). Borderstone - the new song from Songbook, or are you a fellow surveyor ? Thanks to those of you who responded regarding my recovering from brain injury , I will soon figure out how to reply to each of you in turn in the multitude of ways the forum offers. Geo, see the little icons above the text box? You can do nearly everything by just clicking on them.
Right next to the date line (in blue, the one in your post that says 'posted February 21, 2006 04:50, there are four icons. If you place your mouse pointer over the first 1st icon, the one with the face on it, a text box says "profile for geodeticman". If you click on it, you'll see your profile.

The second, an envelope with two little yellow characters off to the left, is the private message icon. If you want to reply to a post, but you only want the poster to see it, and not everyone else, click that.

The third, the one that looks like a piece of paper and a pencil, is for editing your post. If you've made a typo, a spelling error, or likewise, and you don't notice it until you're posted it, you click this icon to correct it.

The quote icon allows you to type your reply above or below the quoted text of the message you are answering.

Now scroll way to the top. See the icons for 'Post Topic'and 'Post Reply'? (They're also at the bottom of the window). If you want to post a new topic, you just click 'Post Topic'. If you want to reply to someone's message, click 'Post Reply'.

But wait! There is a simpler method! If you want to reply to someone's message, just scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. You'll see a blank white box. Now, place your mouse pointer in the upper left corner, double click your mouse, and type your reply. Then just click the Add Reply button.

I probably have you totally confused now!
