I read a comment Zimmerman made about Gord the other day. Apparently, they have been lifelong friends. He said, and I'm paraphrasing, "Gordon Lightfoot. Man, when I hear one of his songs, it's like I just wish it would go on forever."
Thought I'd pass this on to those of you who are new here or did not know this. You can find the quote on the liner notes to Dylan's Biograph box set. Cheers! |

indeed they are great friends. they've both admired eachother since the 60s and have covered eachothers songs in concert.
last year when gord performed Diamond Joe, he mentioned that jack eliott used to sing on the rolling thunder review with an eager tone in his voice. surprising gordon has fond memories of the rolling thunder review considering bob nearly burned his down! |

Au contraire Al Waddya mean you yourself said in an earlier topic:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002016.html as recently as March 1 2004 "Gord's pet canary (Lyle) picked a piece of the burning coat from the fire and started to fly around the house. As the canary flew and perched itself on the curtain rod above the window on the north wall in the main dining room, the burning fabric caught the curtain on fire. At that point Gord said he was fed up with bullshit from the canary and vowed to never get another. He ended up eating this same canary on a canoe trip down the Chiniguntha during the 80's." Annie corrected you the following day by saying more seriously "Okay, this is from the November 10 1996 Toronto Sun article on Gord (I think it's archived somewhere on this site): When Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review rolled through Toronto, the party was at Lightfoot's in Rosedale. When Bobby Neuwirth threw his jacket into the fireplace, and smoke billowed up, Lightfoot began to worry that the party was getting out of hand" John Fowles A one night stand.
