while it's not said here, Lightfoot had a couple of album releases prior to 1966 some here probably know he had a couple of others. one his 1962 release with the Two Tones and a 1964 release titled The Canadian Talent Library. got this all off of Wayne Francis' Site. now it's easy to say he was with a group called the Two Tones in the ealy 60s but since his 1966 Lightfoot release is considered his debut how would i explain this 64 release witch was really the first album by him?

My suggestion would be to simply say the 1966 release is Gord's debut as a solo artist.

Same way you'd explain Paul McCarney's first record under his own name.

Simple is good.

i think the way you explained it in your first post says it all.....
1962 was the Two Tones - performances by the duet of Lightfoot and Whelan.
and the 1964 album was a solo effort for the Canadian Talent Library.
