My dad used to have every Lightfoot album ever made on vinyl. He used to keep them downstairs in the closet and I thought they were the coolest things ever. Unfortunately, about 9 years ago he got rid of his turntable and brought all the Lightfoot albums to a record store, but the man didn't want them!! (Could you believe that??)So my dad ended up throwing them all away.

So 3 years ago, we finally got a beautiful Pioneer turntable (which currently resides in my bedroom)at the thrift store for about $5.00. Realizing his mistake 6 years before, my dad went on a mission, to recollect every Lightfoot Lightfoot album once Again (With my help, of course). We started in late 2001 and finished in August 2004. They were purchased from both Ebay and Record Theatre (A local music store chan that has Lightfoot LPs from $.99-$2.00). We also have plenty of extras.

How about you?

Yes, all that are vinyl. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yes all (except vinyl copies of the rare early items) and in dulicate too since I had my own collection accrued in Canadas and the UK before joining Susan here in the States and of course she also had a comlete collection now we also have two sets of the CDs (including Harmony) no cassettes though but Susan has a couple of 8 track cartridges (and a working player to boot!)
Needles to say we rarely if ever play the vinyl or the 8-tracks
John Fowles
I'm speaking tongue in cheek. So how can anyone understand you?

Yah, the UA stuff is harder to find, I must admit. Especially The Way I feel and Did She Mention my Name. We didn't get those until August.

I'm not sure yet what I'm doing with the dupes, I havn't decided yet.

They are:

1. Shadows

2. IYCRMM

3. Don Quixote

4. SSOL

5. The Best of Gordon lightfoot

What should I do with them?

How about donating them to a library or old folks home? (Is it politically correct to say "old folks"?) No offense intended http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

LSH 02-11-2005 08:44 PM

yep. got them all. no turntable though. it's a sad situation.
even have both IFYCRMM and the original Sit Down Young Stranger.

The Rez 02-11-2005 09:27 PM

Ahh. Me too. Even had the original Nimeless LP at one time. You can find a turntable in very good condition at a thrift store (like I did) or if all fails, Radio Shack sells them.

i'm a little confused. he got rid of the turntable. threw out the albums. then got another turntable and began recollecting the old albums he threw out. here's my questions. > witch albums did he have? why did he throw them away? it seems so wastefull to throw such stuff away i would of kept them till somebody wanted them. i'm sure there's enough places to give away these things. >why at some point did rid of all of the Lightfoot albums and then try to reclaim them? other than the fact he got rid of the record player.
i hope i don't sound to unkind.

See, nobody wanted vinyl around the time he pitched them, because everybody wanted CD's. Of course now they're's a market for them again, and now everybody wants vinyl again, including the ones they threw away. My dad is an example. He got rid of the Turntable when he had enough CD's to replace them, but now since vinyl has come back he wanted to get them back, just to have them for nostalgia.

And yes, he did have every Lightfoot album on Vinyl that was issued on vinyl.

P.S of course you don't sound unkind.

Hey all! I think I posted here about a million years ago. Anyway, About 10 years ago I went on a obsessive quest to obtain all of Gords vinyl. I figured as long as I'm going all out, I might as well make sure that they're mint albums. I believe I have all except "Two Tones" and one called "Yellow Bird" (or something like that). All are mint, some weren't even opened. Of course I opened them just to play them even though I had them on CD. "Lightfoot" was one of the unopened ones which surprised me plus I also had an unopened "Sundown" made by Mobile Sound fidelity. I actually have two of those. Along with that are 33 45s.

It was a fun time hunting down all those albums but kind of a let-down when I was all through.

That's my album story, I have to go take my medication now. TC

Ok, I've decided to give the dupes to my neighbor. He's just starting (just getting in to GL, that is) so I thought he could use them.
