I was just curious... I saw in one thread that someone was going to catch two GL concerts in a two or three week time period. How lucky you are!! Do any of you "follow" his tour? Were any of you GL "groupies" way back when or are any of you still "groupies"? How devoted were/are you, and to what lengths did you go to attend GL's concerts or meet him? (For lack of a better word, I'm using "groupie," in a neutral sense, not a derogatory one.) I hope the terminology doesn't offend anyone. What do I call GL lovers?

Some of us 'follow' more than others, but going to more than one Lightfoot concert in the period of a couple of weeks is sheer heaven. For so long many of us didn't know where he was, but now things are different - and better

Living near Toronto has afforded me the luxury of seeing Gord multiple times in each homestand he does over the last 25 or so years. I just recently saw him in Orillia and Peterborough which are a short ride away from me.
I was in NJ and PA this past weekend to see him. It was the first time I've seen him outside of Ontario and it was great. He was enjoying himself so much and it was wonderful to see. I met up with many others who I met through the internet and also in person last May here in Toronto. plus a few new names introduced themselves as well. I'll see Gord in Orillia in September at the auditorium named after him in the Orillia Opera House and then 4 nights in November when he is at Massey Hall (house of gord). It was a pleasant surprise the other night when i introduced myself and Gord leaned back and said "I remember you from Mariposa!" That was almost two years ago! LOL!!
If you can get to any concerts during this touring season then please make sure you do - you won't be disappointed.

I've been a Gordlover and Lighthead since the
70s and I travelled from the UK last May to
see him at the Massey in Toronto. I also
flew over in April to attend the NJ and PA
concerts and will be back in Toronto in Nov.
The Man just keeps right on going so why
shouldnt we? Incidentally, thru Gord and the internet I have added some very special folk to my own circle of friends.
I wish you the same gifts!

I've never thought of myself as a Gord Groupie, and still don't (tho my family disagrees). I have attended 10 concerts since 2000. However, except for going to the gathering for the 3 Massey concerts in Toronto last May, none of these concerts has entailed a drive of more than a few hours. I am fortunate to live in New Jersey, which hosts at least one concert a year (3 in April), and it is a short drive to concerts in the New York and Philly metro areas.

I also saw Gord in "hot and moist" Florida last year, but it was purely a coincidence that my wife scheduled a vacation for our family the same week as Gord was in Coral Springs. Lucky coincidence tho.

It's odd that attending 10 concerts in two years can get you labeled a groupie, but attending 10 hockey or baseball games merely makes you a "fan." Curious. I wonder why?
