Of course, it's hard to be 100% sure from just 20 sec clips--but I believe Harmony will stand as Gord's best work over the last 2 decades..

What may have happened in Gord's situation is comparable to Elton John's last album. Elton allowed producer Patrick Leonard to literally re-create the sound of the Elton John we once knew. I get a feeling that Bob Doidge and the band have had a hand in doing the same for Gordon.

Sometimes the artist must take a step back and allow the input of others. I sense this has happened in this case.

The songs seem to flow easily and are within Gord's range, and as always, incredibly poignant.

Anyone else have an initial impression?

My initial impression of the sample works is that it's Gord doing what he does best. Sings straight forward songs that one can easily get into and lost in.
Overall I can't "really" tell if it'll be his best in the past 20+ years. That honor still goes to,"Shadows" with "Waiting For You" running a very narrow second.
I went and listened again and I'd like to retract my previous statments about the echo effect,I guess I was expecting a straight up acoustic effort and that wasn't the case.
I do know, however, that none of us will be disappointed! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I thought the same as you. I loved what I heard from the clips.

As I sit here with goosebumps listening again to the sample clips from Harmony--I now realize I am in the presence of a masterpiece.

I never doubted he could do it again--

I've just received further confirmation on this opinion, as the Jam review calls it "darkly beautiful" and "emotionally pointed"

With less than 72 hours to go, my emotions are strong--

This will be one of my proudest moments as a Gord fan--

He did it!

I have listened to the samples over six times----

It is unmistakable--

It is undeniable--

This is Gord's latter day masterpiece--

It will take its place among his best--

I have waited over 20 years to say these words: "This is not just another good Lightfoot album...but rather, this is a stunning return to form, this is a brilliant collection of songs"
