It's going to be kind of eerie, here in Wisconsin, over the next 24 to 48 hours. Today is a gorgeous, sunny and unseasonably warm day. However...they are predicting a cold front to move through and possibly 6 to 8 inches of snow on the ground tomorrow, much like the November storm which sunk the Edmund Fitzgerald 31 years ago today. I hope the freighters on Lake Superior are on the look-out for the North Witch.

I was thinking the exact same thing, "Gitchigumee". 6-8 inches predicted to begin here tomorrow night, which means we should have a lot of freighters parked here in the Straits of Mackinac. Hope they all stay safe!

Hey you know I was on a motorcycle trip around the North Shore of Superior in June of '05, and it was COLD AND WINDY, brrr... I can 'bout imagine what it's like in November. Those men who died on the Edmund Fitzgerald definitely had a harrowing ordeal, may they rest in peace.
On a lighter note, we had a day or two on our trip when the wind died down, the sun came out, and we were able to enjoy the gorgeous scenery. It is definitely a trip I'll repeat. The people in Canada were wonderful to us, but it's definitely different than the States. |
I kind of miss those winter storms from when I lived back east.
For unexplainable reason,I just liked it when they sky was gray and the snow finally covered the ground. I think it's just the proper mood for winter as opposed to how it's in the low 80s here today. Duuuullll!! Anyhow,we have the anniversary of the wreck itself & as mentioned elsewhere, next week is the 30th Anni. of "Wreck" reaching #2 on the charts, oddly enough, the week of Gord's 38th B-day. Doggone Rod Stewart! :D (It was at #3 this week in '76.) ;) |
