A very long running program on BBC radio 4, 'Desert Island Discs" featured some body who opted to take Gordon with him. This was tranmitted on 17 November 2002 (I am sure that is someones birthday)

Christopher Ondaatje

Christopher Ondaatje was born in the British colony of Ceylon and educated at Blundell's School in Tiverton, Devon. He moved to Canada and in 1964 was a member of the Canadian Olympic Bobsled team. He is a retired businessman with a taste for adventure, philanthropy and cricket (he is a patron of Somerset County Cricket Club). He is a member of the exclusive club of Labour's 'million plus' donors and his philanthropy does not stop there - he has also given over a million pounds to the Royal Geographical Society and the National Portrait Gallery, who named a wing of the gallery after him.

Married with three children and 12 grandchildren, Mr Ondaatje is now based in London when he is not travelling the world. His lust for adventure has fuelled several books - most famously Journey to the Source of the Nile.

His book, in addition to the Bible and the complete works of Shakespeare, would be Robert Service's Anthology of Poetry.

Labour's latest millionaire donor is a retired businessman with a taste for adventure, philanthropy and cricket.
Christopher Ondaatje, 67, who has joined Lord Sainsbury and Lord Hamlyn in the exclusive club of Labour's millionaire donors, was born in what used to be known as the British colony of Ceylon, although he was educated at Blundell's School in Tiverton, Devon.

As a young man he moved to Canada where he made his fortune as a businessman and won a place in the country's Olympic bobsleigh team.
Ondaatje has given generously

His lust for adventure has fuelled several books - most famously Journey to the Source of the Nile.

But his brother Michael is perhaps even more famous for his writing talents as the author of the novel The English Patient - later turned into an award-winning film.

Like Lord Hamlyn, Mr Ondaatje made his fortune in publishing and now administers his own charitable foundation and actively supports a number of UK organisations.

He was appointed CBE in June last year for his charitable work.

LOL, that's exactly what I first thought when I read the post topic. Then I understood it meant what Gord MUSIC would you take with you.
