Just adding to my own post. :) My husband and I just watched "Live in Reno". SO awesome!!!! Love to watch the expressions on Gord's face. That's something that you don't get to see very well at a concert, unless you're in the front row.

You know what, it's SO cool how all the guys work just perfectly together. How they all look at Gord and if someone has a solo, they look toward him. They can fill in for each other, no matter what, and just "wing it". That's certainly what they ALL had to do when Gord had the stroke. How many musicians could go out there under those circumstances and do what he did, and have their band members, as one, fill in flawlessly? They are just ALL true artists in the deepest sense of the word.

The more I watch the Reno video the more I love it .IMHO it gives a fantastically accurate impression of the latter day
Lightfoot concert experience and as Louise said the close ups of Gord's typical facial expessions are priceless.
I am especially fond of his initial cheeky grin at the beginning

Cool:) :) Love it!!!! I just put that pic up as my wallpaper. My husband and I were just glued to the screen, as we have never had the occasion (unfortunately) to ever meet Gord. It just seems to be that he is the wonderful, friendly, awesome man that we always believed he was. (Being that we are in the same age group as he, guess that we'd better try to do it soon. Eh???) :) ;) :) ;)

Ah, yes! Love your lyric. Is it that easy? Boy, I could have waited REAL well!! We've been going to see him since the seventies. Can remember way back, there was a girl standing by us with a GL scrapbook that she said she wanted him to autograph, but kept thinking is that possible??

I love the Live in Reno DVD too. It's fun to watch his mannerisms and body language. I could recognize his walk a mile away. I like how he kind of bobs his head back and forth on peppy tunes, and the way he so carefully annunciates every syllable of his lyrics. He obvious cares a great deal that we always understand what the words are--(as if we didn't all have them memorized)! There was one particular song, I can't remember which song, but it makes my heart race to see him singing the words "let it be, let it go" with his eyes closed and singing with such care and feeling.

Hmm, think I'm gonna have to get Live in Reno out and watch it tonight!

Oh goodness! What did I say??!! Yes, September. That doesn't sound too far off, does it? A vacation this summer, and then come back for Gord. :) :) :)

Oh, you were saying about the head bobbing. Yes, I wait for that. Years ago it seemed like he did this thing where he would turn his head to the right a lot.....expecially on hard driving songs.
Maybe it morphed into the head bobbing more, or maybe I just don't remember it quite right. At any rate I don't care what he wants to do up there. It's all awesome to me.

Yes I know exactly what you're talking about. I guess we all have our own unique mannerisms and he's no different than the rest of us. The head turning thing has sometimes made me wonder if he hears better out of the right ear.

Another thing that is endearing is how sometimes when he finishes a song that went particularly well, he just has this great big smile and will kind of punch his arm up in the air and exclaim "all right!" It's just kind of a little celebratory gesture I've noticed him make when he's really happy! :)

I still laugh a little unintentionally when he goes "ah...1,2,3,4!" :D

Has he ever done the "1,2,3,4" in French? Just wondering, because in years past, sometimes I thought that it almost sounded like it. But, then I kind of hard to really hear when you are in a venue.

I have some tapes from old concerts from way back
(like 70's and 80's) that at one point almost sounds like une, deux, etc. But then the sound quality is horrible, because they are copies people had given me on tapes. Have a bunch of audience tapes, and then some from interviews with people like Pete Fornetell in N.Y., etc.

But I digress. Back to Gord. You know that smile of his is worth a thousand words. Love it!!! :) :)

Its a real treat how much Gord enjoys performing live now. Clearly loves it and is truly grateful to be doing what he loves.

Its funny, when I first started seeing him, early 70s, it wasn't always that way. In many ways he was at his peak in terms of commercial popularity, at the top of his songwriting game and his voice was at its best, in my opinion, more mature than in the UA years and not fading with the inevitable march of time. Yet he wasn't enjoying it as much as he is now. He was sometimes grumpy and certainly not always happy. Wonderful to see him enjoying it so much now........and it makes for better concerts
