Does anyone have any information on the mellow groove "If It Should Please You" from GORD'S GOLD II? What year it was recorded? When did he start performing it *live*? Does he still start any shows with it? Thanks for any information. Its a great little ditty!

Hey Tom,
Shame on me, I don't have Gord's Gold II so I'm not familiar with this song. I do know, however, that he didn't perform it at the concert on 8/31 in San Diego. Unfortunately, that's about all I can share. I know what you mean, I've missed Frank, too. Janice |
I just listened to that album yesterday afternoon! I love that song! I like the "toe-tapping" quality it has more than some of Gord's other toe-tappers. I've seen him perform it live but that was quite a while back.

Hi Tom,
I don't have any info on it, but I like it lots. The sound reminds me a lot of Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) who I understand is a Gord fan! ------------------ "some people join the party, and others say goodnight" |

It would have been recorded with all the other re-recorded stuff on GG vol 2.
I love it too, but I thought it would have sounded better if he recorded it around the DSR and shadows period. Anyone agree? |

Anyone agree? joveski, DREAMSTREET ROSE was from 1980, and SHADOWS from 1982. GORD's GOLD II was recorded around 1988(the updated songs). I have no problem with the version sounding "better", its perfect to me. It just doesn't seem to fit anywhere but leading off a *live* album. I wish they would release a current concert or 80's concert on CD. I don't have any Gordon *live* because the SUNDAY CONCERT album is from his earlier more folk period. I like the progressive folk he came out with in the later 70's & 80's with more band backing, electric sound, and better songs. ------------------ "...If YoU fEeL iT yOu BeTtEr BeLiEvE iT, yOu'Re GoNnA sEe It, YoU nEeD tO kNoW/iT iS rIsInG lIkE a FeAtHeR, dIpPiNg & DaNcInG fRoM bElOw/ThErE's A nEw WaVe ThAt Is BrEaKiNg In ThE wAkE oF a PaSsInG sHiP/eVeRy NaTiOn'S gOnNa Be ShAkEn, PuT iT tOgEtHeR, dOn'T lEt It SlIp..." |

Tom, To quote the man himself. "A concert favourite, that never managed to find its way onto an album". It sounds like early 80's to me.Although that version was recorded, 88. The unissued track,to help the sales of GG2. It's the only track I play from the album! I prefer the originals.(Unlike GG). Frank. |
