In reviewing the topics under "Who should play Him", I realized that there have been alot of movies made that could use some soundtrack improvement, as well as Lightfoot songs that could be made into feature films.
For example, some combinations mentioned in other threads: A Feature film of 'The Wreck' The inclusion of 'Boss Man' on the soundtrack for the 'Molly Maguires' I also think that Gord's superior ability in writing about the Sea uniquely qualifies him to have had creative control for the sound track of the much hyped film, 'The Perfect Storm'. Somehow, he was overlooked. In addition, I think that the movie 'City of Angels' could have used a touch of 'I'm not supposed to Care'. Do you guys have anyother ideas? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif |

There are some war movies out there that could use 'Summer Side Of Life', 'Drink Yer Glasses Empty' and 'Protocol'. And it doesn't half to be at the beginning or the end either. They might could fit in between.

DMD3,
Here's a deal, you go ahead and delete your C@thy topic as Char1, the moderator, has requested and everyone will stop goofing on your spelling. I know that you really know how to spell and are just kidding but others may not be as perceptive as us old dumb ass guys, know what I mean. And if you're not sure how to delete a topic that you started, just ask. Bill http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif |
DMD3:
You are enthusiastic and very supportive of this discussion group. I enjoy reading many of your posts. We're not all ganging up for a cyber-beating on you, but I have to agree about deleting that C@thy post thing. My computer locked up. Is it possible that you can't get into it to delete it? Please continue to be a part of this group. I have one word of advice, though. Humor is a very subjective thing. Just like some folks never look as good in a photo as they do in person, some humor isn't as funny to the reader as it was to the writer. But hey! If any of us never got told stuff like this, we wouldn't know to tell it to you. Just remember this: Everything can teach you something if you let it. Brian |
My two choices would be the more recent adaption of the film,"Of Mice and Men",featuring John Malkovich. Watch it and I think you may agree.
The other is a lesser known film called,"Smoke Signals",which came out in 1998. It's about 2 modern day young indian men who travel by bus to Phoenix,AZ to claim the body of one of the young mens' father who has passed on. They're Hopi,so I wouldn't reccomend "Cherokee Bend". A lot of other songs would most likely fit. "Endless Wire" comes to mind. Those are my picks, anybody got further ideas? Been me,later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ Borderstone, gonna post some lines tonight!:D |

I always wished Gord had written an origional score for a movie. He has the formal education for it in music theory and orchestration. I'm sure he got offers, but probably nothing sparked him that much. I'm refering to an entire score, not just a song or two. It would have been interesting to hear what he came up with.

Well DMD 3,in the case of,"Of Mice and Men",I went through this site's alphabetical list of GL songs and I think these would apply nicely.
Changes Cobwebs & Dust Drifters Forgive Me Lord (closing credits) Go My Way Heaven Don't Deserve Me Is There Anyone Home? Long River Redwood Hill Spanish Moss (??) The Soul Is The Rock I think I picked pretty well! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif So,I'll see ya later George! I gotta go feed the rabbits George! George is my friend! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ------------------ Borderstone, gonna post some lines tonight! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by Borderstone (edited January 20, 2004).] |
I think Blackhawk Down should've played "Drink Yer Glasses Empty" somewhere in that movie.
I haven't heard this song, not even a sample, but having read the lyrics "May I" seems like it would belong in a childs movie. |

Gord's "May I" uses kid's games & phrases as a metaphor for the mental games that adults play when it comes to love, relationships and physical attraction. If you think about it,getting to an equal level with the opposite (or in some cases) same gender in these situations is just like a game. One false move or mistake and you lose or have to start over.
As for being in a kids movie,I think any of the 1970's live action Disney films would fit well. I'd pick,"Escape To Witch Mountain". A film I fondly recall but I also feel should be re-made for todays kids, seeing how it's now 30 years old this year. It's been me,later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ Borderstone, gonna post some lines tonight!:D |
