Today was a Lightfoot songbook day at my house and my daughter is really getting into a lot more songs than the few she at first liked. I have indoctrinated her! Anyway, I really noticed that the Songbook version of CRT is faster than any I have heard before - he really pumps it out!
Lisa noticed it too cuz she's been listening to the 100 hours of tape dubbing and the numerous times she's heard CRT on them. Am I crazy or is it a speedier (?) version. Sorry for the lack of musical terms!

First Char, thank-you so very much for my tape. I am grateful beyond words. And second, yes it is definitely a lot faster than some other versions. I was struck by the difference because the first time I heard CRT was off of Gord's Gold. I fell in love with the song while that was the only album I owned which was for about three years. When I finally heard the Sunday Concert version and the Songbook version, I said to myself, "Whoa Gordo, slow down buddy", but actually all the versions are fantastic. So I was definitely struck by the change in tempo, you are not going crazy.
Again thanks for your generousity in giving up your time and tremendous effort to bring me my first ever glimpse at Gord in concert. I can't wait to see him next spring when he will be playing near my hometown in Connecticut.

Char,
Yes, the Songbook version is definitely a tad faster. Although I've enjoyed all
of Gord's versions the one on Gord's Gold, in my opinion, is best if for no other reason than the stretched ending "to silent to be real". It gives an added oompfh to the song . . . kinda like the all important pause in the punchline when telling a joke.
