Some time ago a fan gave me a link to the record company site of a Czech bluegrass group (The Old Greenhorns) who covered Ribbon Of Darkness

I said I would explain that name
Sometime back in the 70's I went on a two week course at Culligan Italiana in Bologna on water treatment. Our lecturer was a splendid chap one Danilo Chilli who with his brother had founded the company.
I found that I was the one who answered his questions most readily.
and he dubbed me "the professor"
A couple of years later I attended another course at the parent company's factory in Northbrook (a Chicago suberb).The first morning I arrived at the factory to find both the Union Jack and the Italian flag flying. One of the lecturers was you guessed it Senor Chilli.
The first time he saw me he said "Ah the professor I see they are flying both of our flags in our honour!.I was suitably amazed that he had recognised me

I had a Culligan water softener once installed in my house: I was scammed! My later inquiries as to why no change was apparent turned out that a) the Culligan water softener was not designed to do what was needed for my water and b) the salesman was nowhere to be found. Such is life!

I also was given a tape (which, for the life of me I can't fine now) of Rainy Day People sung in Malaysian.
Over to the Czech Republic.....I think I helped break down the iron curtain in 1972 (Gord and I that is) by taking over a copy of Don Quixote and giving it to my relatives. Listening to that record, people obviously saw the futility of communism and embraced our system of government, scruffy jeans, and Gordon Lightfoot. He seems to be quite popular in that country.
