While the Canadian Entertainment Hall of Fame searches for a permanent home possibly in Niagara it has announced its second slate of inductees.

National icons Michael J. Fox, Gordon Lightfoot and Donald Sutherland will join posthumous inductees John Candy, Leonard Cohen and film executive Jack L. Warner. Receiving the Raymond Massey Legacy Award will be composer/producer David Foster.

"They are a powerful group to be honoured at the same time and yet only a handful of our great Canadian talent," says Niagara's Bruce Prentice, founder of the new hall of fame. "In a country of only 35 million, they all have contributed with their talents in a major way across the border and around the world.

"It is part of the mission of the Canadian Entertainment Hall of Fame to spread the word of just how important Canadians are to the entertainment industry."

Prentice, a former Toronto Blue Jays scout and founder of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, established the new hall last year. It held its first induction ceremony earlier this year at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Since then, he has been seeking a home for the hall, with some Niagara sites a possibility.

"Calls have come in offering buildings and sites as well as space in prominent areas of Niagara," he says. "In the end, the hall should be located in a high-traffic area with easy access off the main highways. Should it be in Niagara? That's up to those who have the capability and desire to make it happen."
