Hi. I've posted a few times here, but I check in almost everyday. I have a question I thought some of you may know how to answer. I see and hear people that are protesting the war use the phrase "War is not the answer". Does any one know if Gord is the originator of this phrase or did someone coin the phrase before "Sit Down Young Stranger"? I saw a protest sign with this phrase and a picture of Martin Luther King.

The correct phrase is WAR IS SOMETIMES THE ANSWER, but I'm not sure who originated it. Might've been Gordy, could've been the likes of FDR or Churchill.

In the context you are thinking of this...music...the origin is actually Marvin Gaye's classic song "What's Going On?" It is in this song that the musical statement is made: "War is not the Answer."

Well Rosanna,Lennon more thsn any other Beatle led the anti-war movement. So it could have been him.
It could have been Marvin Gaye in his song "What's Going On" but that was 1973 and unless no one said it before that,it may be him.
Could've been Martin Luther King or even Muhammed Ali. Those are the most likely people but who knows,it could have even been just a protester at a rally.
