3 Attachment(s)
I have a Martin D18gl acoustic guitar, if anyone is seriously interested in buying it please get in touch. Please no day dreamers or jokers.

I have had the guitar from new and it is in mint condition.

I have several photos but do not know how to attach them to this thread, you can email me on sungolfinfo@btinternet.com

Hey Jesse Joe,

Thanks for thinking of me. My hands have too much arthritis in them to play any more. If I had the $$$$$ I would buy it for my sister Kerstin. :)

What web site?

If you are interested in the GL Martin, send me an email and I will keep your address on file. (You can get my email address from most of the sites in my signature). I am sort of in touch with about half the owners (there were 61 plus two prototypes), so I often hear if one is on sale. "Burntstump" has posted here a couple of times, and I did email with him several years ago, but I don't think he reads email often (or maybe he changes email addresses).

In any case, just write to me personally if you want me to keep you in mind. Resales generally range in the $4300 to $4900 range, although several have gone for far more. There just aren't many of them, so if you want one you will have to pay dearly. The original list was $3500.

It's a nice guitar, or at least mine definitely is. As with all guitars, each one is different, but I was very lucky to get one with a beautiful top (very tight grain), and sound to match. (No, it's not for sale).

FWIW
burntstump from RobinHoodsville has tried to sell his D18GL here before back in 2005
see:-
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showthread...213#post105213
and yes
http://ntlworld.com
certainly exist(ed)
But if you try to open it you are now instantly forwarded to the virgin media site at:-
http://www.virginmedia.com/
http://www.virginmedia.com/img/globa...edia-wide3.jpg
their old email addresses still obviously works though
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfo...orld_email.jpg
And as full confirmation an elementary quick google revealed:-
http://forum.osnn.net/showthread.php?t=88761
where in February 2007
mecham said quite clearly
in a message entitled
"ntlworld.com move to Virgin Media as of tomrrow"

"Today will be the last time you will see ntlworld.com as they cease trading as NTL at midnight GMT time and relaunch as Virgin Media tomorrow morning. You will see a brand new website, and an exciting new product line, changes will commence over the next coming months as services will change for the better. So what can we expect to see from Virgin Media........

ntlworld.com mail servers will change to virginmedia.com (although these mail servers will continue to operate you can if you wish, keep you existing ntlworld.com email address)."

Beautiful instrument, that's for sure. I saw the ad for those on the Martin site a few years back. I play a Martin DX1, which will just have to do....

It seems Ebay is the way to sell my Martin D18GL rather than through this dedicated fan site, mine is also in mint condition yet got no interest from anyone in the states.

glad to hear you're able to find a buyer.
this dedicated fan has the mortgage to pay..

Re: Gordon Lightfoot Martin D18GL Guitar

Graham, Ebay is definitely something you should try. Although you will find avid fans here, this is by no means the entire universe of Lightfoot fans; far from it. Plus, if you look at the "active users" statistics, you'll see that over the short term not that many people check here. Yes, there are some of us who visit regularly, but there are many fans who visit rarely or not at all. And a post about a guitar for sale shows up near the top for only a few days, if that. It's great that you offered it here, but there were no takers (remember, several of us have one already), so if you really want to sell, Ebay is probably the way to do it.

However, you will still have a problem because you are in the UK, and most Lightfoot fans are on the other side of the pond. There will definitely be a customs charge if purchased by a US resident: 10% I believe. Even though it was made here, it will almost definitely be subject to customs fees. Finally, I'm sure that people will be a little uneasy about having the guitar shipped so far. You may want to offer to pay the return cost, if they are unhappy with it for any reason. In fact, you may want to sell it with shipping included, and state how you will ship it and that you will insure it for full value.

Finally, when you consider what you are likely to get for it, remember that the guitar that just sold had a hand-signed autograph. Although the seller thinks there are maybe 10 of those, I seriously doubt that. His is only the 3rd I have ever heard about. There was another on Ebay, and my guitar is also hand-signed. Of the 35 or so owners I do know, none of them had their guitar signed (yet).

Good luck. But do you really want to sell it?

Re: Gordon Lightfoot Martin D18GL Guitar

No 61 has just been sold for $4,500
by "Hershey" in Lexington KY who can only be "duff" as known from newsgroup days and I believe has posted here but I cannot recall under what nom-de-plume
http://cgi.ebay.com/D-18GL-Martin-Go...:B:SRCH:US:103

http://i20.ebayimg.com/04/i/001/39/91/7274_12.JPG
His explanation for the sale was
"I rarely play it and any great guitar should be played in order to reach its full potential. "

I wanted to post this as a joke, saying "I'll take two" - thought you might like to see what it's going for...

I know that there was a much more recent (i.e. 2011) thread on this but I am danged if I can find it using the often inadequate corfid search system
but I just wanted to alert those readers in Germany
(yes that includes you Rex and Eva if you have come up for air!!!!) that there is a D18GL on Ebay right now for a mere $5100 (or make an offer)
plus a paltry $400 shipping charge from Hamburg (NOT the birthplace of Hambugers BTW)http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqR,!iY...ToOMDw~~_3.JPG
