Canadian music legend Gordon Lightfoot meets some fans after one of his traditional gigs at Toronto's Massey Hall in November 2006, then speeds off into the night.

Claudia 05-30-2007 11:50 AM

Same here, it just doesn't load

Dream Street Rose 05-30-2007 12:45 PM

You are all invited over to my house to watch it. I am one of the lucky ones that has it working. Keep trying. :)

Would dinner time work for you? :D

RM 05-30-2007 01:29 PM

I had no trouble with it. It's a nice glimpse into the after concert doings. If I'm correct, I think you can see fellow corfidian Gord H in the lower left portion of the video just when Lightfoot emerges.

Paul Farnham 05-30-2007 01:40 PM

How cool is that? And he drove himself home! Such a salt of the earth eh?

Paul Farnham 05-30-2007 01:42 PM

BTW what IS he drivin' ?

Jesse Joe 05-30-2007 01:52 PM

A cool piece of video,{1 minute 24 seconds} looks like a Monte Carlo?. Did see Gord H bottom left of screen. The car was sure shiny. :)

Thanks, Next_Saturday

Sounds good to me. I saw the Chevy logo.

Darn it, why doesn't it work on my computer? It looks like the video is loading but it stays dark

Dream Street Rose 05-30-2007 02:43 PM

Claudia,

Dinner is one of the best meals I cook. What is your favorite dinner? If Char talks to Gordon maybe she could invite him over too.

If you make the dinner, can we bring the dessert? :) ;) Char, PLEASE invite Gord, too.

Hey, that's sounds like an awsome idea to me. And if Gord comes too, it really doesn't matter what you do for dinner. It could be shoelaces and I would happily mumble away :) :D

Char? CHAR????

Claudia 05-30-2007 04:05 PM

Oh YES! Now it worked, great! That is indeed a nice little video, love it.

But I still think we should go for the dinner...

charlene 05-30-2007 05:30 PM

He drives himself up to Orillia for Mariposa too..these were taken in 2005 when he performed for my 50th..

Aw, thats so nice! I see some more vid's of Gordon too!

charlene 05-30-2007 05:52 PM

at the beginning of Rainy Day people the clock tower at old City Hall across the street was chiming 7 o'clock..lol..on top of sound problems he had the chimes to contend with..

Borderstone 05-30-2007 07:13 PM

I saw Gord meet the fans and speed off in January. :)
I'm sure it wont play here at the library.

brink- 05-30-2007 07:18 PM

You are in there little Gord (H)! I couldn't get it to work at work, but here at home if I let it load (forever) it finally will play, a bit jerky but it will play.

BILLW 05-30-2007 07:39 PM

seems to work great here in Maryland using comcast. That's a better close-up of Gord H. than it is of Gord L. But I can't call him little Gord, he's bigger than big Gord, LOL.

Bill :)

charlene 05-30-2007 07:59 PM

yep.. that was both Gords fer sure!

T.G. 05-30-2007 10:15 PM

Did someone say dinner? I'm always up for that, whether we can see the video or not :)

Gord H 05-31-2007 04:19 AM

Ya that's me alright LOL. Didn't think I'd end up on a video online with Gord Lightfoot in the background! :D

I'm definetly going to grab this one for posterity.

Thanks BillW for letting me know about it. :D

The man is a class act all the way. See how he takes his time signing autographs, patiently getting photos taken, and not being in any hurry to leave. Very gracious. He doesn't do the "star" thing at all, and far as this country goes -- they don't come any bigger! I had wondered why there were no CDs or T-Shirts at the concert I recently attended. When I found out it was because he didn't want to exploit the fans, I was very impressed. We've got great taste in entertainers, people! :)

T.G. 05-31-2007 10:44 AM

Funny enough, although I've heard some not-so-complimentary things about Gordon from someone who was using Grant Avenue recording studios at the same time Gordon was recording there, I have been impressed by the patience he has exhibited with the fans when he gets mobbed by them for photos and such.

At Massey Hall, for example, he spent a great amount of time indoors backstage receiving people. Then, after all that, he stepped outside and again was very gracious with people accosting him there.

I could see him being justified in just pushing past everyone and running into his car after playing a full gig and already receiving people backstage, especially at the age of 68, when a certain amount of fatigue must set in. I've certainly seen that happen among other younger "rock stars" and entertainment types when I've tried approaching them after shows.

As has been said, Gordon is a class act and a model for how entertainers should comport themselves. As someone shouted at the end of the video: "Keep playing!"

Jesse Joe 05-31-2007 10:56 AM

Very well said to both of you Irish and T.G. :)

Your 15 minutes of fame Gord H. :D :)

imported_Next_Saturday 05-31-2007 11:42 AM

Char,
Thanks for explaining the clock chime. One of the chimes sounded just when Gord gave up on "Waiting For You" and I thought Rick did a rimshot!

I'll have to figure out how to get GL to play for my birthday. I wonder if he'll drive himself there?

Dream Street Rose 05-31-2007 11:54 AM

Okay everyone, let's get this straight. The ball is in your court. Figure out when whoever is interested in dinner(and a few more meals of course), can come to California. Let me know how many to prepare for. I like to make a lot of food so please bring your appitites. :) :D :)

Well, I'm around Gord's home in Toronto, so how about we make the dinner halfway. We can also bring our guitars and have a jam session :)

Claudia 05-31-2007 04:23 PM

Great idea T.G. - and if we're stuck with one song, we can call him real quick and ask him over, so he can teach us how to do it right...

T.G. 05-31-2007 05:29 PM

There ya go, but we better do it before late June, when Gord goes on tour again ...

Dream Street Rose 05-31-2007 09:20 PM

Actually, I plan to be at the first three concerts in June. Someone find me a grocery store and a kitchen and I'm there. :D

T.G. 05-31-2007 09:42 PM

Woohoo, I can't boil an egg, so I'll have to rely on some of our debonair cooks here to cover that end of things. I can play and sing a mean rendition of If You Could Read My Mind, though LOL

Alright, here's the deal: You teach me how to play IYCRMM and I'll cook! How does that sound??

T.G. 06-01-2007 01:02 PM

Can't argue with a deal like that. Now what's a picturesque venue at which Gordon will be playing during the summer season?

charlene 06-01-2007 01:55 PM

Mariposa in Orillia - 90 minutes from me! Sunday July 8..

Not a bad idea! Can you do the cooking, Char (as if you don't do enough on this site LOL)? But then, how would our American friends feel about coming over the border? Better that they have to deal with the border hassles than we LOL.
