The last concert SHOULD be in Europe,
Where he hasn't been for 19 years...LoL

(His largest fan base outside of North America. Where he seems to tour every day of the week...every year!...LoL).

Dear Frank, You sound like a poor sport, just because we have seen him a number of times this year. Of course his last concert should be at Massey Hall. I certainly hope that is not for atleast 35 years.

Betty,
Of course it should be Massey Hall.
I was joking...(I think)?LOL.
How about if his third to last perfomance was in England. Now I've probably upset the rest of his European fans!
(This was always a tricky topic)!

By the way, his second to last perfomance would be "somewhere USA".

But wait a minute.WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE WORLD.

LOL.Frank.

Frank, Do you have the address to send Gord a "fan" letter asking him if he would like to make a trip and play at Albert Hall? HOw big is Albert Hall? I might make the trip.
Betty
P.S. I think his last USA concert should be at the Majestic Theater, we had such a great time there.

Hi Betty,
Gord played the Royal Albert Hall several
times in the 70s/80s and it is VERY BIG!
Those concerts were fantastic and if we
ever manage to get him back here, you
have to come!

Thanks Char.
Betty, If Gord Came to England, the likely venue, would be Wembley arena.(quite big).
The Albert Hall doesn't host concerts of that nature anymore.
He last played the Albert hall in the 70's.

Frank,
I really don't want it any place really big. It should be small and intimate, just for his true family. You, CJ, Char, Silver Heels, Florian, and other true fans that post on this sight. But, why talk about last concert, I want to leave this earth before he does. I better go to work Isound rather sad this morning. Have a good day.

Frank - do you think Gord could fill Wembley Stadium? - 90,000 people? He wouldn't do a place that big! He likes the smaller places. Royal Albert Hall is even bigger than Massey by about 2,000! He'd much prefer to do a few nights there I think. It would be a great place to see him. He was there on May 18, 1981 and I guess that was the last time.
Wayne Francis has a very comprehensive list of all of Gord's concerts and a lot of set lists for them too. There's a link on Florian's home page. It's interesting to see the changes in the sets he has done over the years and the songs that have remained in every concert.
But he'll still be at home in Toronto standing on the stage he owns - Massey Hall!
LOL

Char,
That's not the one. Wembley stadium is an outdoor, soccer arena. The national stadium.(currently being rebuilt). It's been used for concerts before.ie Live aid.
Wembley arena is a much smaller, indoor arena.
Most big artists play there,(Dylan this month)when they can only fit in the odd date. The problem with small venues, is that they cannot support public demand, for only one show. If he came here for a series of dates, rather than a one off, that would be okay.
For a one off,like Dylan.W.E.would be perfect.

Frank.
(He might have problems filling the old wembley stadium...LoL.)

Betty, dont let all this talk upset you.
Gord would never play any of the really
BIG venues. He doesnt like them. And like
you and he I also prefer the smaller intimate
venues and have already suggested the Royal
Festival Hall. After all, he's been away a
long time, has had no hits over here and his
fan base is widely scattered nationwide. I
doubt he would fill the RAH these days. Even
in May '81 it was not a capacity house. I know.I was there. It was his penultimate UK concert
- the last was at the Dominion Theatre in London and it was a disaster. I'll email you
direct if you want to know about it. Cheer up, Bettykins, all is well in Lightfootland http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif)

I can solve the dilemma - Gord could play at a pool party at my place!
LOL
Wembley arena can hold about 11,000 or if it's re-configured to a smaller seating plan, about 6,000 right Frank? That smaller size would be good for Gord although it is pretty large compared to the places he usually plays - even when he was a big draw. 3 nights at Massey is only about 9,000 people - back in the 70's he filled it for 10 shows! Do you think he could fill a 6,000 hall for one night? Is there a smaller hall about the size of Massey Hall around the London area? There must be so many wonderful places! Does the inside of Massey Hall resemble the theatres there? It's not nearly as old (100+) the historical ones in England and definitely nothing to look at on the outside but I mean the interior? Have you been to Massey?, I can't remember if you said you had. Are you coming in May? You guys over there should write to Gord/Barry Harvey and plead your case! It might get him thinking....

As Frank says, The Albert Hall is out. The last time he played there was May 1981 if my scrap book serves me well ! There's a great venue on my doorstep - The Preston Guild Hall. A nice intimate hall. Failing that - my front room ! Anywhere in UK would do!

Al,
You Brits need to get a letter campaign in the works!
It just may work and he'll come back over before he stops touring altogether!
won't hurt to try!

Silver Heels,
You in fact, initially mentioned The AH,not the FH. The FH is in fact, a large venue.
Larger than the WE, which I mentioned.
The topic was originally about a one off last concert.
Do you think he would come all the way to Britain to play a small venue,in a one off.
I dont think so! you have to make a profit!

Frank.

Dear Frank, Maybe if you wrote his wife a letter telling her all about the wonderful things you ould do in England she was influence him to go. Sometimes it takes a womens touch to get the job done. That is how life is.
