classmixdj beat me to it! Yes, definately the
captain of a ship.... but I can only see that (and have in my dreams) if it's a "tall ship"....the kind from long ago that still travel the world as ambassadors of "good will" representing their countries in those "tall ship parades" that I love sooo much! BTW, I can see Terry as a model on the cover of those romance novels I've seen, but have never read. (don't do fiction) Naturally, the Damsel In Distress he has gathered up in his big strong arms is our own lovely and enchanting Erica.... sparks are flying! And it appears ia if Erica is about to faint! midnightmisty [This message has been edited by midnightmisty (edited September 15, 2000).] [This message has been edited by midnightmisty (edited September 15, 2000).] |

Hi Frank!
You have so many great questions going- this is the only one I can answer without having to rack my brain. I'll get to those others later, but for now, I believe Gord would have made a wonderful walking billboard for either Levi Strauss or Fruit of the Loom since he's forever in bluejeans and a T-shirt and looks good in either (LOL). No, really . . . I can see him as one of those tour guides who leads people into the wilderness on hikes or shooting the rapids of one of his Canadian rivers. Ever see the movie called Shoot to Kill starring Tom Berenger, Sydney Poitier, and Kirsty Alley? Well, in that movie Tom and Kirsty's characters did those kind of tours for a living. He could've been a boxer, or a track runner, perhaps.
Although I am good at running, and it comes natural to me, I don't enjoy it; it hurts too much. |

Please excuse the abruptness of my comment on this subject. I'm my Mama's caregiver and she needed me right then. I truly am sorry for being so abrupt.
Here's my thinking, when it come to songwriting, there are there are three types of folks. 1. Those who try hard, but just can't do it. 2. Those who can write - craftsment, perhaps. But are quite happy doing other tings as well; 3. And those who must. Like breath. Like rain. In #1 lies good hearted folks who dearly love music, but it is not where they shine; In #2 lies the realm of the majority of talented writers - the craftsmen who move to Nashville and become staff writers using the formula to creat a hit. They write well, hits galore, but nothing timeless. Nothing that really matters. 3. #3 is in rarefied air. The gift has been given, the Muse must be followed and there is no choice. You must - or die. I, too, live in the "must." If we were on a Michael Bolton site - well, hell, I wouldn't be on a Michel Bolton site. If there is no "must," I can't go there. This I know - really - Gord must. Howdy,
Just wanted you each and all to know, sometimes I tend to get kind of heavy. It's just my nature, I guess. Sometimes way to serious. The fun that this topic has generated has genuinely brought me smiles. So, in the spirit of things, I figure Gord could have easily been a "hobo" ala Woodie Guthrie. Helping a soul wherever help might be needed. "Hey, buddy, gimme and ax and I'll tackle that wood pile w/ ya." "Change Oil? Well, I'm really not up on it but I'll give it a go." "Lemme give ya a push to the gas station." "I'll help ya catch those chickens." "Go to sleep, you weary hobo. Let those clouds go drifing by. Can't you hear the steel rails hummin'. That's a Hobo's Lullaby." And then would come the "must."
