Erica (Erkie aka sundreme@aol.com and I have been trying to persuade Gaby to install mIRC (it should prevent her being bumped so much).Erica offered to give Gaby instructions by e-mail as she considers that the instructions on my tutorial page at:- http://www.mirc.shorturl.com are too complex. Very sorry I tried to make getting then configuring this Chat Client as easy as possible but obviously not enough. So any pointers on how to improve the information I present there will be much appreciated Otherwise the easiest way to gain access to the room is this simple link using your browser:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com TONIGHT AT 9pm EST ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot [This message has been edited by johnfowles (edited December 12, 2003).] |

He wasted no time and has already opened a topic about a new poster. We were also able to welcome back a fan from Vermont where I believe they make wood-burning stoves (which I know are actually sold in England) so "woodstove" don't wait so long for another visit!! Prolific Newsgroup poster Douglas Crowe from Kentucky also debuted plus some fellow apparently Somewhere Up In Michigan turned up to converse. Again tonight I will be there to welcome everybody who wishes to avail themselves of Ed Mullen's generosity with the bottle!! 9 PM EST/2AM GMT in Rik Steven's Chat Room at:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com or via mIRC (Gaby I hope that you have now downloaded a fully functional mIRCinstallation file) finally it has been suggested thst anybody on their own on New Years Eve could meet in the room. I expect that Susan and I will be busy with the family so will likely have to give it a miss. If there is such a meeting (suggested time the usual 9PM EST) perhaps somebody who is sober on January the First could post a short report here ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot |

Some six people met in the chat room last Friday (the 26th) plus I believe I just missed "Renorick"
I must first apologise for omitting to follow up on my earlier note regarding a proposed chat session for anyone on their own on New Year's Eve. We did look in a couple of times (approx 9.30 PM EST and just after midnight) but found nobody there. Hopefully this could be arranged on a more definite footing at the end of this year. Meanwhile tonight should be a regular chat at 9PM EST or 2 AM GMT at:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot |

Last Friday saw a good gathering of 9 fans in Rik's chat room including
someome from Somewhere Up In Michigan and a rare visit by ther room's founder Rik Steven's plus a welcome return by Page from Alabama who had obviously lost the Chat room link (she admitted failing to read these adverts on either the Newsgroup or on the corfid Discussion Board. The subject of the Yahoo chat room which was abandoned due to unreliability but offerred live voice chat came up since the guitar chat people have found thas it is now behaving itself. so perhaps tonight we might discuss its revival further. same place:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com same time 9PM EDT or 2 am GMT or "elevenses" down under ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot |

We had a bumper attendance last week .No less than 15 came in at various times including founder Rik Stevens (again) Gaby in England and Steve in Plano Texas. plus welcome first visits by Pete in Arlington VA and a nice surprise visiy by Ron Jenkins a.k.a. takitimu/murihikukid in South Island New Zealand after a rapid e-mail exchange with myself in which Ron asked questions that I knew Ed Mullen (who was in the chat room) would be able to answer . We did not get around to discussing reopening the Yahoo chat room group (with its live voice/microphone feature) and after further thought I recall that several potential chatters had great difficulty getting in when it was still active so for now Rik's Room is it
So I hope a goodly number will meet again this evening at:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com which I feel is a little easier to remember than the actual url:- http://chat.cjb.net/gordonlightfootchat Either link will get you there but it is really better to use the mIRC client program(me) full details of which you can read at:- http://www.mirc.shorturl.com oh yes the times basically it is 9pm EST (GMT minus 5 hours) (any earlier is too early for anyone on the U.S. West coast) examples:- Portland Oregon and California 6PM PST (GMT minus 8 hours) Great Britain 2 AM GMT (Saturday morning) or in Melbourne (on Saturday afternoon) (GMT plus 11 hours) i.e. 1PM DST (which ends on March 28th 2004) and Ron hope to see you again on Saturday afternoon) NZ (GMT plus13 hours) i.e. 3PM DST (just to confuse the issue NZ DST ends on March 21st!!) With any luck either Char or Jenney or both will drop in to expand on their exciting time in Toronto last weekend ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot [This message has been edited by johnfowles (edited January 16, 2004).] |

OK advert and highlight time
first the week on the Newsgroup:- This week it was the turn of the Newsgroup to host a sometimes acrimonious debate It began with a harmless advert by Jerry Lang from Ireland who wanted to sell some autographed vinyl lps to raise money for his children's education and ran into a vitriolic stream inspired by recent criticism of those peddling an unending list of bootlegs and autographed items on ebay, Eventually Jerry revealed that he runs an on-line radio station upon which he plays Gord Char found yet another time wasting game to succeed the "batting pinguins" one Melissa Joe brightened everybody's week by pointing out that Harmony if still on schedule was due in 90 days. Ron Jones in Vancouver promptly announced that he did not have a bootlegged copy on the same theme sammys da one tried to set up trading for 5000 shows on DVD Douglas Crowe asked in return if he had the Pat Boone does Van Halen music DVD? felicitations on Val's birthday were presented then Bruna's Meanwhile over on the corfid forum a short topic thread on a review of the Beautiful tribute album in Acoustic Guitar magazine http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001965.html brought the revelation that an associate editor there is a "fellow Gord fan". the very acrimonious debate at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000257-2.html on last week's George W Bush speech was suitably lightened by Cathy Cowette's highlighting the pinguin site and after that site got over-accessed Violet Blue Horse found that it had moved to another site http://meph.eu.org/ the presidential theme has finally found its target at:- http://www.dancingbush.com/ see topic http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000273.html Ed Mullen you must turn on the music to get the full disco experience!! which is even better than an earlier mocking site (that I was quite surprised to find is still up there~):- http://www.toostupidtobepresident.com/ I see that that site is bang up, to date with a section entitled:- "Top 11 reasons to invade Mars." including such pearls of wisdom as:- 5. The invasion will pay for itself through the sale of Mars' ample reserves of Mars bars OK enough tomfoolery Last friday at least 7 met in the chat room including a return visit by Pete from Arlington VA and the founder (old Rik himself) so let's try again this evening at9 PM EST (or 2 AM GMT) at:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot |

John,
I'm not offended but for some historical perspective: I'm old enough (50 1/2) to remember some folks snickering at then President Kennedy's plan to be the first nation to land men on the moon. So, let's see how this idea looks 35 years from now. I'll contact you from the old folks home, LOL. Bill http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif I wasn't there but I hear the Wright Bros. took a lot of heat too..... |
OK it's Friday again and time for this week's list of highlights and the chat room advert
corfid highlights 1. the main Gordon Lightfoot forum at http://www.corfid.shorturl.com Walter/Borderstone nominated as "The Lightfoot Of the Week." newcomer AZroute74 (one Judy Coyle) who explained her nom de plume as "I've adopted it because State Route 74 in AZ is the source for the song; it is the Carefree Highway." Of course she is quite incorrect as the fabled highway which leads to the megalopolis of Carefree is but one road leading off Route74 as clearly shown on my pic at:- http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/carefre...ehwysign4..jpg http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/carefre...ehwysign4..jpg read Judy's first post:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001988.html to find out"Why? For going out and starting over where some might have given up" There were a pair of new Brit posters on corfid this week both debuted at the end of a lengthy topic "Favorite Lightfoot Song & Why? II" at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000055-9.html first Katrine a Horticulturist who stated "I first saw Gordon Lightfoot when he hosted a series of TVshows here in the UK way back in 1963. I have been a fan ever since. Unfortunately he never tours here, so we feel a bit deprived." In 1963 I personally was to busy swatting up for my London University finals to watch television so missed those landmark shows altogether and it was not until I heard "Spin Spin" on Montreal radio in 1966 that I became hooked perhaps Katrine could recount what she remembers of those shows. Did Gord sing and what?? Soon after Katrine Mair )(a teacher from Welsh Wales) popped (pooped/poped) out of the woodwork I trust that Bruna Zanelli a.k.a silverheels has added them both to her growing list of UK fans and that one or the other might venture to Toronto for the hoped-for 2005 Massey convention since it has been known for years that Gord is unlikely to return to the UK for a tour. So you'll have to come over here and join the several hundred Lightheads that are bound to congregate in Toronto This leads to the week's most significant good news Gord has the stomach-muscle strenthening surgery on Feb 17th and contrary to earlier rumours "Gordon Lightfoot says vocal cords fine" Funny I always thought they were "vocal chords" but no cords they are!!! Of course the accompanying bad news was that the release of "Hermony" has slipped back a fortnight to May 11th but thanks to Wayne Francis' source we already know the 11 song titles 2. Meanwhile over on the "Small Talk" forum an initially innocent topic concerning the schoolboy love life of one DMD3 or "Dunkin' Douglas" as I like to refer to him soon developed into a lively discussion on marriage women's greed etc there was also a charming confession about an old GL Tee shirt by Char at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000282.html On the other hand The Newsgroup at:- http://www.newsgroup.shorturl.com started the week badly on Saturday morning with Bill Hall's sad news about his daughter Dana. Both boards had links to new fun sites to supercede the earlier pinguin bashing experiences of those with time in their hands ............................................. OK now the Chat Room commercial Following a sparse attendance of only 7 last Friday I hope more will venture in this evening I will be e-mailing Bruna later to try to persuade her to attend Tonight at 9PM EST browser link http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot |

and this very evening we will hope to see a good crowd in the chatroom Last week's 9 which included a talented singer/guitarist lady from Austin Texas was encouraging But first the past week's highlights (as I see them anyway):- CORFID HIGHLIGHTS http://www.corfid.shorturl.com there's a very nice Topic: Question for the new and younger posters asking how lightheads got hooked at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001896.html Another interesting Topic: Your least played album at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002018.html And another Topic: OK, who sang it? at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002017.html concerning another version of DSMMN In researching my reply I found a nice site:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002017.html which sports a bio and an extensive discography clicking on the album cover thumbnails will show the album track listing and in most cases each track has a link to a short 30 second audio (Real Media) clip useful if you want to check on one of Gord's songs that you might find is not included in the many clips on Val's site:- http://www.gordonlightfoot.com where for example she has all 88 tracks on the Songbook Box Set I brought this up because there has been a spate of late on corfid of confessions by a number of people who are not yet fortunate enough to own every GL album sking which one to buy next and/or declaring that they have never heard a particular song and a 30-second sample could therefore be useful to them NEWSGROUP HIGHLIGHTS on the newsgroup alt.music.lightfoot at:- http://www.newsgroup.shorturl.com Highlight of the week was undoubtedly the discovery/announcement by Jenney regarding the upcoming new album "Harmony" that "There will be a single released of Inspiration Lady, and a video! The video has already been taped, and from what I hear is great." thread "Inspiration Lady from Harmony" I would advise hurrying over there pronto (not Toronto) because some troll posted a message under the subject: "alt.music.lightfoot down the pan" Meanwhile Douglas Crowe continued to be troubled medically and received an offer of help from a new poster (a doctor) who practices in Brazil Ron a.k.a. blackbery wine created a minor hoo ha by bringing up his discovery of more recordings at the alt.binaries.mp3.bootlegs newsgroup but fortunately gave it the very same subject name as an earlier thread about the Reno recording in 2000 by "duff" Your very alert reporter spotted that both Duff and Douglas reside in Lexington Kentucky So I have sent them an e-mail suggesting that they meet tonight in the snug and welcoming gathering place known as old rik's chat room. (actually Rik Stevens is not that old!!) Now where was I oh yes this evening's chat as usual 9 PM EST at:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com to avoid getting bumped as Gaby did last week take a close look at the mIRC chat client fully illustrated details at http://www.mirc.shorturl.com ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot [This message has been edited by johnfowles (edited February 13, 2004).] |

Newsgroup and Corfid highlights week 14-19 February 2004
Both boards had threads/topics regarding our hopes and prayers for Gord's scheduled operation this past Tuesday and we all now anxiously await news that it was successful Both boards also took a dim view of the decision by the Junos committee that the Beautiful tribute album did not fit into any existing awards category Otherwise the Newsgroup:- http://www.newsgroup.shorturl.com was relatively quiet this silence was broken on Tuesday by Roger speculating on what a duet of Gord and Willie Nelson might comprise song-wise This caused apoplexy for Ed Mullen who introduced the notion of those two along with Bob Dylan The corfid discussion forum:- http://www.corfid.shorturl.com continued to be lively Jim Nasium from somewhere in England was astounded by the ignorance of a Canadian lady on a BBC quiz programme who was unable to name 5 famous Canadians Sundry Americans then showed how knowledgeable they were and this sparked off a new topic "Pop Quiz" which sounds promising I myself added to an earlier thread on Gord's affinity with cats and/or dogs when I spotted on ebay:- http://www.ebaylightfoot.shorturl.com that a punter in Japan was auctioning a Japanese single of Sundown with a rare picture sleeve with a fine shot of Gord with a dog.For as long as this auction is current you can see this pic at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002021.html On the subject of Pets I then posted my two favourite kitten pics a few days ago as a new "Small Talk" forum topic at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000285.html last night I was able to lead Kimberley (ex-mytoyota) through the procedure to display on corfid any picture that is already on a web site, a most useful feature that in my mind sets corfid apart from the Newsgroup where Google studiously ignores any binary content (although if you follow the NG via your browser's Newsreader then attachments of jpegs etc will show up) The other feature of corfid I really like is that you can see your posting immediately and if you post as a registerd member you can if necessary then edit it or even delete it(due to my penchant for typos this is invaluable!!!) Bill (W)allace started what could be an interesting thread on "Playing PAL DVDs in the USA" a subject of which know a bit and will contribute to in due course:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000286.html two mentions of Gord by late night chat show host Conan O'Brien were quoted on this topic:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002027.html Which is a neat cue for today's chat room advert following last week's successful chat during which 11 turned up we will be open as usual this evening at 9 PM EST at:- http://www.rikschatroom.shorturl.com It will be interesting to see if Gaby makes it again and whether she has bitten the bullet and installed mIRC at last details at :- http://www.mirc.shorturl.com ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot [This message has been edited by johnfowles (edited February 20, 2004).] [This message has been edited by johnfowles (edited February 20, 2004).] |

Chat Newsgroup and Corfid highlights week 20th to 26th February 2004
The biggest news appeared immediately I posted my highlights last week when Jenney revealed that she had heard from Toronto that Gord's operation apparently was successful and that he was out of the ICU Among the more interesting new topics on corfid at:- http://www.corfid.shorturl.com was the revelation by a new poster who had been posting as "trudiewannabe" that her real name is Shazia. it transpired that the Sting to her tale is that she rather fancied herself as Mrs Gordon Sumner!! I havejust checked my facts on this via Google where I also learned that an anagram of Sting's real name is "grunted minor songs" which is mightily unfair!! other Corfid topics included:- The Gordon Lightfoot Project an appeal from Jeffrey Parker for ideas on three things that represent GL for a school history project produced some good ideas although Jeffrey seemed to have sussed out the salient points already:- Guitar-the Fitz and CRT:- one of the replies mentioned that I had found a very nice painting of the Fitz at sunset it is at:- http://pet-portraits.net/edmund_fitz...ight_print.jpg http://pet-portraits.net/edmund_fitz...ight_print.jpg Dunkin Douglas (DMD3) has this very day started what could be a long-running and interesting "Topic: What is a Lighthead to you?" this youthful Lighthead was also worried about the whereabouts of a hitherto prolific UK poster rejoicing in the name Major Sir Jerry Pudding who replied that some unimaginative pillock had registered that name so he was unable to use it. Unfortunately sir Gerald then used another unregistered name Major Surgery Pending no longer quite so apt now Gord has had his hopefully final surgery Oh well Another new corfid poster wanted to know an explanation of the great song " Race Among The Ruins" and was promptly told that a young and then eligable Derek Kidd had submitted a lengthy analysis on the Newsgroup way back in 1997. which prompts me to emphasize to all posters old and new that amongst the Newsgroup's almost 30,000 threads you can find discussion on just about every GL song especially if it is called "Cabaret" and possibly features sundry Zippo lighter noises!! see:- http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&th=2ee5502a529dee46&rnum=1]h ttp://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&th=2ee5502a529dee46&rnum=1]http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&th=2ee5502a529dee46&rnum=1 Derek's starting post is a classic so make sure that you read it all. That reminds me of another very nice explanation of another favo(u)rite of mine That Same Old Obsession at:- http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&selm=FWBz3. 1522%242h5.4784%40news.chello.at this was posted by someone who called himself then:- Corfid (f-bodenseher@gmx.net) That's right no less than our good friend and benefactor of the corfid site and Discussion Forum Florian. He shortly thereafter got stuck into his own website and announced it to an unsuspecting Lightheadworld in September 1999 at:- <A HREF="http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&th=a71e8494c3e0f895&rnum=7" TARGET=_blank>http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...3e0f895&rnum=7[/ URL] Meanwhile on the Newsgroup (alt.music.lightfoot) Handily accesible from this special link:- <A HREF="http://www.newsgroup.shorturl.com]" TARGET=_blank>http://www.newsgroup.shorturl.com]</A> Ed Mullen found himself bereft of Kleenex And a Canadian poster pointed out that the Linus Entertainment site had put up some new Gord items preparatory to their release of Harmony which bodes well for their probable publicity plans for the album and the man I will add a link to one of the pictures they used and for anyone reading this on corfid the picture sould in fact have appeared below this link but unfortunarely Linius have cut the pic up into 4 segments so click on this link:- http://www.linusentertainment.com/ar...rdon2_lg.shtml ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot [This message has been edited by johnfowles (edited February 27, 2004).] |

Highlights week 28 February to March 11th 2004
NEWSGROUP The linus web site apparently now has an extract from the liner notes for Harmony see the thread subject "harmony fever" at http://www.newsgroup.shorturl.com this followed another new harmony-related thread "Welcome to Orillia........" started by an ex-pat son of Orillia now in Sweden and some initial reviews in another suitably titled thread "harmony preview" which included a posting by Doug Kirk to his own web site's inclusion of the harmony album artwork CORFID Over at the corfid discussion Forum two stalwarts there continued to provide some stirring topics "Borderstone" (Walter Lamont) wanted to know how anxious we were regarding the release of Harmony and afterwards he through a third party (thank you brink) sent me a fine picture of himself which is now on display at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002059.html I intend to incorporate a rogue's gallery on my Webring page when I get around to rewriting it (and completing the reorganisation of the webring that I have been trying to get back to for yonks) and have therefore in that topic asked for fans to send me a recent picture. Our young Georgian Dunkin' Douglas (DMD3) started a nice topic asking readers "Give me a list of all the GL songs you have heard on the radio" which will get us old-timers scratching our heads!! talking of pictures as I was "Bruna the Beautiful Blonde Brit" was recently over here and in her travels discovered literally almost by accident the township of Lightfoot in Virginia. She is prettily pictured at Lightfoot at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002074.html and yet another swooning female from the UK Gaby had the temerity to ask:- "So, which song do you know Gordon Lightfoot wrote for you?" http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002078.html -------------------------------------------------- And now the sorry tale of the chat room or rather the lack of it:- Well I have no real idea why the usual chat room failed the last two weeks but the link no longer works via the IRC server cjb.net that Rik originally set his chat room up with, nor was it possible to get the simpler non-IRC access via the browser. I consulted mIRC help and the advice seems to be to try another IRC sercver of which there are a large and varying number listed in a drop down menu above the mIRC's "connect to IRC Server" button.but one I successfully tried two weeks ago DLnet.net is not listed on the old mIRC version that Susan is using. Eventually last week after I had made contact with Cathy by IMing her we roped in her son Matt who obviously knows a thing or two about IRC and he set up gordonlightfootchat to open using EFnet as the IRC server.Indeed 4 of us were able to meet in what seemed to be the identical layout that we are used to using mIRC. BUT he does not think it is possible to get in via one's browser which rather negates that solution for now as several chatters who do not want to get involved with installing the superior mIRC and therefore will wish to continue using the browser method. So that way is out. Now Rik ran into the problem of reluctance to go 100% with mIRC some years ago and was trying to set up an alternative using the free chat facilities offerred by bravenet. (free but pop-up advert prone) So there is a link already on his web site to his bravenet room (see below) I have now been able to initiate my own bravenet room (see below also) But as yet I have not been able to discover if a bravenet room can be accessed via mIRC. I will be contacting Matt shortly to see if he knows how to do that So for the moment i.e. this evening we will meet in Rik's existing room at:- http://pub41.bravenet.com/chat/show.php/3487845653 at 9pm EST if you wish to do a quick check on my proposed new room as it is go to:- http://pub33.bravenet.com/chat/show.php/2750193584 Neither room as far as I can tell is actually located in a "pub" OK that's it for another week John Fowles ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot |

had the temerity to ask:- "So, which song do you know Gordon Lightfoot wrote for you?" http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002078.html[/QUOTE] Swooning??????? Much as I adore The Man, I definitely do not do swooning. LOL http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif |
I am most gratified by a few comments on the Newsgroup that my efforts to devise a small digest of the past week's highlights
are being appreciated. so here I go again Highlights week March 12th to 18th 2004 CORFID young newbie Shazia started what is becoming an interesting topic at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002097.html by asking after hearing the Auctioneer "do some Lightfoot songs make you LAUGH (instead of getting watery-eyed, for example)?" Bravenet is clearly not acessible by everybody (I suspect others had the same problem as Susan last Friday). Ideally we could use Rik's original room or a replacement and access via mIRC but despite strenuous cajoling by Rik in 1999/2000 and me in my adverts for well over year too few potential chatters seem prepared to take the small amount of trouble to acquire then set up mIRC. Failing a workable answer there I will amend my mIRC instruction page to add how to change from the existing cjb.net to EF.net and then plan on using that next week. if anybody reading this has any comments or better ideas please say so either here or to me by e-mail to fowlesjohn@hotmail.com ------------------ My Gordon Lightfoot webring starts at http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot |

John,
I promise faithfully that I will try to get into the chat room tonight. I’ll have a nap this evening and set my alarm clock for some god-awful time over here. I’ve already done a test run and it was easy. So, you lot on EST have absolutely no excuse not to turn up occasionally There are often more Ozzies, Brits and Canadians chatting than Americans! Thanks for your comment about the email from Linus. I didn’t think to post it on the Newsgroup. (Doh!) I only lurk there. I very rarely post. |
John,
with regard to the fraccas at the NG, I am well aware of who Matthew Fifer is and his invaluable contribution to the Lightfoot community. I do, however, still consider his 'moodie' was out of order and most offensive to Ed. That said, I shall now go away. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif |

For someone who has not posted on the newsgroup for several years, he sure came cruising back in there like he owned it. Unfortunately, when he left the group with no explanation, he passed the torch on to the next group of people, and Ed is definitely one of the current residents. I notice he's not paid us another visit since we stood up for Ed. Cathy http://www.cathycowette.com |
