You mean the rest will be like Hate Mail? ;)

There are some pretty cool presenters and I'll take Drake over Russell Peters

There will be some rockin, and with that Montreal band taking Grammy for album of the year (just when you thought real albums no longer existed, only iTunes singles) will perform plus Broken Social Scene. The 7 year old is keeping me current and trying to ween me off Gord, lol

Btw, I have a spare VCR if you need one... enjoy:)

Ps) IMO, Barenaked Ladies without Steven page are nothing more than pretty ordinary Clothed Men...

Char - What would a girl have to do to get a copy of that recording?

JJ - I wish I would have had a chance to see BNL with Steven Page. But I saw them twice last year, and they sounded great and put on an awesome show. But my son's friend shares your opinion...:headbang:

She sang lead for the majority Not cuddy. That's what I meant and typed. Lol

I was bummed from get go hearing a duet off the bat and not having them atleast rotate lead vox and perhaps harmonize or unison by end segment

But I think they cut out a segment (something Gord wouldn't allow for Grammys) did they not. Harmer sang nice full version of Carrie no? Old man just great except for weak vocal mix. Ive always dug that dude.

Keelor so expressive in finale and not a weak link there but a crime that the most powerhouse vocalist got one wee line in the medley

Bit of a lame finish with no crescendo or big jam note hold finish for a big moment in hogtown Juno history. Just my initial take but seemed like it came to a close in same way an Oscar acceptance speech gets brought to a close when it's station break time

One of the Gord pics was nice classic and appropriate for the iycrmm mood but the main one didn't and I could think of many other gems for a third. Perhaps one from mid or later in career. Maybe there were some I missed

So many other thoughts

Perhaps the Best moments were the Goods moments:)

Shania fine wine and digging the non crass Drake

I hope yuri caught Melissa mclelland and Luke ducette backing Sarah M

Hmm I don't need yoko or the antebellum dude on (even though I like him) to bring the night any validation

Will catch replay in morn with clear head
Congrats to all. I'm glad Misha didn't sing.
I'm still recovering from the optimize (j/k)

Ps
I love the wedge line orillian:) how about taking some bytes out of a digital file version? Lol

Jiffer They are all extra ordinary men. Of course. I'm goofy.

Re: Juno week in Canada

Nice that Dan lanois did intro for Neil young. They look related:)

Note
Lanois(s) and Doidge were the high school buds that started Grant Ave Studio where Gord's last couple of albums were produced. I wouldn't have minded if Daniel was also involved in those projects just for fun

Hey they did show a shot of the Riverboat during the tribute intro audio video montage. I may have missed any Steeles Tavern shots

Well.
This telecast has had less foul language than the Oscars!

Re: Juno week in Canada

I don't know lead from un lead..
it was a duet..lol
I was diggin Cuddy in a fine suit..Yeah they cut the song down a bit..
Nice to see Justin Rutledge onstage..and The Sadies..Too bad Luke didn't do one of his own tunes instead of backing Sarah McL. I'm not fond of her..never have been.
Harmer's Carrie was terrific.
A tune by Royal Wood would have been nice..he was up for songwriter of the year.
Arcade Fire...I don't get it.
Shania-omigawd she's so gorgeous.
Drake's a classy kid..

jj 03-27-2011 10:37 PM

Re: Juno week in Canada

Great comments char lol
I don't get them either but I figure all album awards should go to the group with the most people in it:)

Slean got too much time and Ryder NOT enough

I think Gord should add a trio of Robert Palmer chicks for his live act just like that last act had. And heffernan needs a vocoder. Lol

Niffer will dig this show I think. Good vibe

I think Drake should suit up for the blue jays

He looks like a Bautista.

charlene 03-27-2011 10:45 PM

Re: Juno week in Canada

I said same thing to lisa' that Robert Palmer did that years ago..lol
and then Shania did it! lol
omfg.I do not get that Arcade Fire..at all.
Drake is a looker..like Bautista..but without the bat..
Loved Neil getting his Artist of the Year award -- "What year is this?"
lolol

lolol

Shania may dispute that come morning. heh heh

she is starting to get a Gabor squint

I think Bautista has the higher maintenance unibrow (compared to Drake, i mean, not Twain, lol)

Yeah. I shouldve called it a young Goods moment ie. Sadies- some say the best Canuck band over the decade

I must have overlooked a Neil album and tour this year

Maybe he said "I'll only fly up if you also give me Artist of the Year" ;)

Nice to see Adams there too. Today two of his songs from Reckless came on the radio and had me re-realizing what a voice and hooks plus perfect lyrics for teen lust and hurt filled males to soak up and do their bestest air mic and guitar to (whereas American teens and Cruise did same to Seger)

Hmmm, Beiber, eh? lol. I think he appeared 3or 4 times

Interesting;
you, char and myself had that Toronto setting perfectly surrounded

Char, that one young pic of Gord with scraggly Bruelcreamed hair seemed to look like present day Luke

Ctv showed a short profile of Royal at end of the news. Chat with his folks etc

I knew you'd be looking at cuddys suit, and lips. Lol

Long live Woody....

Re: Juno week in Canada

Ya know ii wouldn't be surprised if that lead Arcade Fire guy was a part time serial killer! Lol

Well, bringing all my bloggings (is that what these are?) back home to Lighfoot segment, I really think that given the upbeat cool youthful vibe of the evening, that perhaps the heartwrenching IYCRMM wasn't the right pick, nor the classy and sweet voiced Slean

http://hypem.com/#!/item/157e5/Luke+Doucet+-+Sundown

I think if they went with another very signature Gord tune instead (ie. Sundown with Luke on lead vox with incredible Gordish studio harmonies provided by Cuddy in the choruses and acoustic guitar rhythms while Luke and Keelor exchanged nasty e-lead work) well, I'm pretty sure I'd be giving a different review

And the nation's eardrums would still be beating....

ps) char, my fave part of the Mclachlan act was the drummer
