Stationmaster!!!!Aw,Don't delete this,man! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif Too much has gone into this to let it end with deletion! You have come up with 2 of the best ideas for threads this year and this is one of them! Tell you what,if you don't mind bending your rule for this last selection, let me add the last song! Just please, don't erase all of this, there's "Too Much Too Lose" !! (Pretty please??) http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif I really like the thread that much. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif Okay? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ "A knight of the road, going back to a place where he might get warm." ;) - Borderstone |
Hey Walter did you have a change of heart? I thought you wanted me to delete it... http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif
------------------ "The station is for travelers even you must ride someday" |
No offense folks, but hasn't this gotten just a WEE bit out of hand? Almost all of his stuuf has been done one way or another with the best of the best being redone.
You're up to eight discs here folks! Eight! LOL http://www.corfid.com/ubb/eek.gif Why don't we just put everything he's ever done on a huge 36 cd set and call it a wrap? Don't get me wrong, I'm not being rude and what you're doing is a lot of fun, but in the true spirit of a Gord's Gold III, why don't we come up with a realtheme for the compilation. Like one idea could be Disc 1 will be songs about lakes and mines, Disc 2 will be songs about love etc..etc.. Another idea would be to take 5 - 10 songs from each decade with a few 'special' cuts from the 21st century. Don't you think this would give his new Gold Collection better selling power as well as giving some of his underrated, yet great hits some of the notoriety they deserve? Anyway, please read my own version of what Gord's Gold #3 would be about in my thread, Gordon Lightfoot's Gold From The Past. Mike from North Bay ------------------ "You know living a life of ease don't make your meals taste better..." G.L. |

I think 8 is enough. Great job folks. This has been a lot of fun.
|
In my eyes, there's ONE more that deserves to be on that set. It's the song called It's Too Late, He Wins. only big GL fans would have heard this one
It's Gordie on the piano and Terry at the other end. But, I'll let The Master decide on that. ------------------ Sidney Freedmen 'Sit Down Young Stranger' and visit The Home Page Of Gordon Lightfoot |
maybe i'm misunderstanding your comment, SF, but aint that floyd cramer on keys for that gem? i'd really like to somehow filter out the backups on that as well as on Remember Me
those 2 tunes redirected me to jim reeves anthology, i'd have loved to have seen he and floyd and chet (atkins) as a live trio |
I swear that's Terry bcuse they recorded that song on the Village Corner CD if i remember right. if i'm wrong, so sorry
------------------ Sidney Freedmen 'Sit Down Young Stranger' and visit The Home Page Of Gordon Lightfoot |
oh, don't be sorry, great pic http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif
like i said, i misunderstood i only know the songbook recording and not the VC version heck, maybe i'm not the big gord fan i thought i was, lol char, please send me mp3 of this version...now!(as you would say, lol) |
I don't see that song listed on the TWO TONES at the Village corner album.
Char Terry passed away last month. |
From a post (not his site) by Wayne Francis:
TWO TONES AT THE VILLAGE CORNER (with Terry Whelan) ** - 1962 Canatal Records (1012) We Come Here To Sing*; Fast Freight*; The Fox*; Dark As A Dungeon*; Sinnerman*; This Is My Song; Kilgarry Mountain*; Calypso Baby*; Summer Love*; Children Go Where I Send Thee*; Copper Kettle*; Lord I'm So Weary* EARLY LIGHTFOOT ** - 1971 (but recorded in early 60's) AME Records (AME 7000) Remember Me (I'm The One); Daisy Doo; Adios, Adios; Is My Baby Blue Tonight*; Sleep Little Jane; Long Haired Woman; It's Too Late He Wins; Take Care Of Yourself*; This Is My Song; Negotiations* ************************************* If I remember the explanation, the * indicates a song written by others. thnaks aa http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif so this '71 release is the same as the '62 recording on Songbook, no Gord no Terry
btw, so that's not Floyd on Remember Me, hmmm sorry, to get off topic...i forgot that we're supposed to reply with 99.5% rehash, lol...hope everyone's now got in on the cool discs, SM http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif ...how's that for canuck grammar? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif |
whoops, my bad! but i still belive that that song otta be on there!
------------------ Sidney Freedmen 'Sit Down Young Stranger' and visit The Home Page Of Gordon Lightfoot |
I think they should ALL be there... http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
|
I think Gordon should just get together with all the people that have anything to do with his music and just release one great big box set.
Ranging from Two Tones to whatever may be his last CD and including the rarities too. Release it in 2012 and call it "Gord's 50th Gold Anniversary Collection." Probably go for nearly $175.00 but hey,I'd save up for it! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ "A knight of the road, going back to a place where he might get warm." ;) - Borderstone |
i would sure as hall buy that thing!!
------------------ Sidney Freedmen 'Sit Down Young Stranger' and visit The Home Page Of Gordon Lightfoot |
Sure as "Hall"? Would that be Monty Hall? Ya see, that way....you could "make a deal"! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Well.....I thought it was funny. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ "A knight of the road, going back to a place where he might get warm." http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif - Borderstone [This message has been edited by Borderstone (edited August 29, 2004).] |
Well! Message 200. ...and after that last one,I think we should call this one a done deal! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif The End.
