Dear Char,
Again, you bring up a song that was stored in the back of my brain. This is one of my favorites from the 60's. I know you are ten years younger but we share the same taste in music. Thank you. Isn't that song "Beautiful"

If you can get past all the commercialism in his career, John Denver could write some down to the core songs. "Seasons of the Heart" is a song that I always imagined Gord had written or would sing.

And I'm walking here beside you in the early evening chill
A thing we've always loved to do and I know we always will
We have so much in common, so many things to share
That I can't believe my heart when it implies that you're not there

So I don't know how to tell you, it's difficult to say
I never in my wildest dreams imagined it this way
But sometimes I just don't know you, there's an emptiness inside
So many things I long for have so often been denied
Still I wouldn't try and change you, there's no one left to blame
It's just somethings that mean so much and we just don't feel the same

Love is why I came here in the first place
Love is now the reason I must go
Love is all I ever hoped to find here
True love is still the only dream I know

Does anyone remember Buffy Sainte-Marie's "Until it's time for you to go?" I think the Lightfoot magic would make it even more poignant. (By the way, mentioning Buffy Sainte-Marie makes me feel really, REALLY old, so be nice, guys!) http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

Knotty Pine: CAT STEVENS ALERT!!!!

On VH-1, Behind the Music, Oct.1
(according to TV Guide)they will talk to Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat) - don't miss it!

Char - I also like the version Neil Diamond does of "The Last Thing On My Mind" - it is so mournful and gut wrenching, you just want to bawl. But I like it like that!

Great ideas in here. Just wanted to make sure we had it right - Tom Paxton wrote "Last Thing On My Mind." One of his very early songs. Tom keeps going and going... Much of his stuff would work well for Gord.

I'm fortunate enough to own a guitar that Tom used to own. Just one of those in the right place at the right time things. A Martin M-36. It's a 79 that I bought in 82. My main guitar.

Now if only Gord would sell me a guitar....

Hey, Knotty Pine!
My personal Cat favorites are Trouble, On the Road to Find Out, Rubylove (always thought that would make a great wedding reception song - love the Greek flavor of it).
If you haven't already, try to find the video for the movie "Harold and Maude". All Cat soundtrack, and one of my Top Ten list movies.

Feso - you're right - the mind said Paxton - the fingers typed RUSH!
It's a wonderful song and Gord could pull it off.

This is a beautiful song too - amazing how
they rest at the back of the mind until
someone pulls them out and wham! The memories
flood out too.
Hey, Bob, what's age? Merely a
number. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif)

Well, since Gord's letter to the Moody Blues,
a very nice gentleman and I have been chatting about Gord and the MBs. We both seem to agree that Gord would really do a great job with "For My Lady". It's a very romantic piece and has that "somewhere back in time" feel to it that Gord does so well.
It has a very medieval flavor to it. It would
make me swoon.

I'm new here and just want to say hi. It was a hoot reading you gals' messages regarding the "E" word.

OK, how about an Elvis tune? I remember Gord saying he used to imitate Elvis when he was a kid, and of course Elvis did Early Monring Rain, so it seems only fitting. I'm not enough of an Elvis fan to give a recommendation.
