Me, too, El Gato. That was my second Gord purchase -- Live in Reno, so many of his earlier songs I first heard there. I actually prefer them to his earlier renditions of them. The maturity brings an extra touch to them.

To me, he has always been mature. His Mum must be so special to have raised such a divinely human son.

My favorite has to be "Song for a Winter's Night". I play guitar (poorly) and sing badly but I screwed up the nerve to play for my wife. That my friends is how the song must be done, with the love of your life looking on.........

My current Lightfoot favorite is "The Watchman's Gone." A bittersweet 'observational' song with a sweet mix of hobo philosophy and just the right bluesy feel. I can't hear it enough lately, as well as the rest of the Sundown CD.

I'd have to say I have a few faves among his songs. I was introduced to GL in 1994 by a boyfriend of mine who played "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" for me. I felt such a connection w/the song and didn't know why till we were watching a documentary on the 20th anniversary of the sinking. Lo and behold, it turned out that it sank on November 10th---MY BIRTHDAY! Since then, I've loved that song. I also like "Sundown", "Carefree Highway", "Summertime Dream", "The House You Live In", "If You Could Read My Mind" and so many others...he just seems to speak directly to you!

I've come to take a great liking to being . . .
"like a June bug travellin'" Some of Gord's songs knock you to your knees at first hearing. Most grow - at least for me. Each and every album grows and grows. Harmony follows quite nicely in my reverie. The Rez . . . have faith in The River |
"A Tree Too Weak to Stand." It makes me think of my favorite TV character. :)

One of my more simpler fav's from the 60's era is,"Sixteen Miles To Seven Lakes". Although quite a short song,Gord puts just enough emotion into it that it doesn't seem short. One of many great things within his great talent. :)

Shoot! Forgot to mention my favorite 80's! Duh!
That's none other than,"Traingle",thank you very much! ;) |
Gordon u rock! Beautiful is a massive song. I had to shed a tear. Sincerily, from the bottom of my heart.
Greetings from Finland. Mikko & Risto (also Tuuli) |

I love "Triangle." Several years ago, GL was giving a concert here, and people in the audience were calling out requests. Somebody said, "Triangle!" and he said, "It's getting too late in the evening to sing that one."
