I had fallen asleep on the couch watching MNF and woke up just in time to see Gordon's image on the screen and hear Boomer's kind words. There seem to be a number of Lightheads at ESPN :)

I think Justin Bieber is a talented kid, and, to be fair, none of us would be here if Gordon's body of work was being judged solely on what he accomplished by the age of 18.

Still, the difference between his boy-band dance moves, and the simple artistry of the troubadour and his guitar was stunning.

yeah, niff. remember one of the mike and mike dudes speaking about attending a gord concert last year:)

it was odd to hear booing of a local boy who has never really acted disrespectful of his roots or hometown or other artists. most argo fans are basically meatheads. lol. i think this theme song pretty much hits the nail on the head:)

A song, a guitar, a voice.
Excellence and longevity.
Gordon Lightfoot.

I agree James - while Biebers music/dance act is not my cuppa I admire him so much. He's worked his ass off - this 'fame' did not just drop into his lap. From youtube to what he is now has taken huge effort and whether I like his music or not he is a talented kid finding his way after 4 years of non-stop work. The boos were not a surprise but were not necessary. For the most part he has remained a good kid, respectful and mindful of where he comes from and thanking those who helped him, especially his mum, dad, step dad and grandparents. It's a heady thing to be so famous at any age and he's handled it pretty well.
And like Jennifer said, had Lightfoot continued his career based on his 18 year old songwriting and stage efforts we'd all be on another fanpage..Justin has far surpassed GL at his age.
lol

Anytime jj, just let me know, lol.

Bill :)

I enjoyed the whole show - the game itself was a tad lopsided in the first half though...

But I had just come from watching a 4th and 29 play

It's great he does so much TV now! Wish he had 30 years ago. How many of you guys were looking over his shoulder to scope out the shelves? Like my dad's office, it offers clues to the everyday man.

Really enjoyed seeing Gordon's performance at the Grey Cup - he looked stately, well-dressed and sang with gusto. I found the truncated version of CRT a bit jarring, though ... the song seems to just be getting started when it ends. I wonder if using another number that could be played in its entirety would have been better. Anyway, we're happy with what we got!

Now I just saw Burton Cummings' version of O Canada ... can't say the same good words, apart from maybe he was well-dressed LOL

Re: Lightfoot @ Halftime show during Grey Cup

They wanted to tie the 100th anniversary of the Grey Cup with Canada's 100th anniversary (1967) and the tune/artist specifically written for it. There's no such Grey Cup tune so CRT seemed logical I guess..They should have let him sing the whole tune or at least play a 2nd tune.

Who was "that whiny-voiced lip-synching p***k" who played after this guy?

great post… but i think many non-Lightheads were kept unRestless by the old footage on the big video screens (which some might argue was distracting)

Gord's an intimate act … likely would have done better in USA over the decades if tried the stadium and TV thing …it's ironic that he is playing a few arenas (more people/more $$) up here on tour than the cozy theatres they have in small towns … i'm glad he's doing Hamilton Place instead of Copps, anyhow

i don't know who could possibly run around stages and not lip synch these days (Bruce could do it, not sure of MJ was) …i guess it's a pre requisite that you have to move around these days unless you're Adelle …good thing Gord missed that era…. he was glad to leave the Country Hoedown two left feet gig :)

is there a teen pic anywhere of Justin with normal jeans pulled up and a non-basketball jersey and without bling or sideway flat billed cap? a rarity

i like Carly but listening to her album, seems sold out for danceclub productions

BTO this year perhaps?
