Yes, Annie. :) That's the song. Do they accept money order? I don't have a C.C. ,
I cut mine up and am paying it off.

Thanks for the clue in. ;)

Rose, what will I do then, once finished? Well, one things for sure,I'll remember never to rent an apt. below ground level again! LOL!

Aside from that.....I'll still be finishing the top 40 hits of the most major acts of the rock era.

Finished collecting the 27 hits of The Everly Brothers Saturday too. ;)

Yikes!! I have mercifully escaped such a fate. i think I was 25 at first apartment and it was at ground level. It was in Tallahassee so i had some of the requisite Florida bugs but stayed dry.

I had one below ground place and was there for a good three years. Well a full three years.... It was an illegal duplex but at least if something went wrong the landlord was upstairs.

Where were you before Connecticut (which, BTW, is a perfectly lovely state for the most part...)?

Hey B,

Good job and congratulations. I was wondering what sort of turntable do you use with your sound system to play all these things on ? I haven't had a working turntable in 15 or more years but I'm thinking of getting one again. Any suggestions ? Anyone else ?

Bill :)

Re: "You have a bad day!" 01/16/09 Victory!!!

Yes,it finally happened yesterday! :)

After 4pm yesterday (Friday) at the downtown oldies store I've been frequenting since the summer of '89,I nabbed their "one"-repeat! "one" 45rpm copy of 1986's "One Step Closer To You" by Gavin Christopher w/ Picture Sleeve! All for,thankfully,$3.00 + tx. ;)

With that,I concluded this oddesy I've been on since June 2006.
Did I get all 133 back? No...more like 128 but those five weren't exactly necessary to the collection. In fact, while finding these,I gave away or sold about 30 lps, some casettes & a few Cd's.

Why? I realzed that there were a great many I wasn't listening to anymore (one's without hits or that had songs that I now had on "Best of" CDs). I also just needed to make room because I didn't want to end up with over 700 vinyl albums either.

I'm glad I did finish this but at the same time, given what 's been going on in America the last year and to me in 2007. I know that it's not as important as I made it seem in my mind. Near the end,it was more of just wanting to finish what I started.....and I did.

Simply,a personal victory but compared to bigger problems, not that grand a thing. One of the stores that helped is going out of "in person" business next month and will be strictly an Internet business, they just don't have the clientel anymore. (They certainly had the prices though!)

So,from this point, music takes a back seat. Still buy every now and then but not like before. I've realized, especially after I turned 40,what's truly takes precidence in one's life and now that this is done,I can focus on those things.

Thanks to all of you for your support & messages during this. I just hope that I wasn't annoying about it. So ends that bad day from 2006 and last but not least, things are such a "360" turn now from that time, thank God. :)

Re: "You have a bad day!"

Hey all. I was leafing through some old threads and read through this one.

You know what, despite the loss being bad and incredibly frustrating at the time,
now reading this five years later,I realize i made a bigger issue out of it than i should have.

I don;t mean initially,i had a right to be mad but later in the thread,I'm reading what i typed and I think I come across a bit self-involved. If so,I want to apologize for that. I did eant to keep you all up to date on my progress but I think i went a bit overboard.

I could also say, retrieving the lost items became a nealry insane obsession. I note also I nevr replied to Bill's question about what record player I use. In fact,in some other thrreads, people asked me things and I didn't reply.

I could get busy at times but not "that" busy. So,necessary or not,I want to apologize for being so self centered that way. I was a somewhat diffferent man then and thankfully,I don;t obsess about stuff like that anymore.

I hope Bill reads this. I use my brother's turntable at the moment (I don;t recall the brand name). At the time of original posting,it was a SONY turntable/am-fm/cassette & CD player, that I bought in 2000 at Sears for $100. Long gone now.

I thank anyone who took the time to read this and who may have ever been annoyed
by the way I presented myself,in any similar form like I've mentioned,in other posts.

Re: "You have a bad day!"

First off, I want to report, this will be the final message on this thread. :)

I'm posting here for 2 reasons.

1. This past summer was *gulp*!! the 10th anniversary of the closet flood.

I didn't post about it in June because well
...it hadn't entered my mind. ..and I've been busy.

2. One 'truly" final piece of the puzzle came to me last Tuesday the 11th. A very good copy of Rita Coolidge's debut album from 1971. I had bought a copy sometimes ago, but not in the greatest of shape. ...but now I have as close to the one I lost in 2006 as I can get.

So to me, that really puts the !!! on this odyssey :)

Everyone havea good week! Bye now.
