You know Lavender this 5 songs would be hard to limit. when I go back and review any of Gord's music it is hard not to change my list... And I thought my topic on the memory first was hard, ha! This is like the indecisive child in me that keeps rearranging all of the songs. Today feels like a day of protest, spring is not coming quickly enough, so let's protest.
What are Gord's greatest protest songs?

1)Long Way Back Home
2)Hi'way Songs
3)10 Degrees and Getting Colder
4)Seven Island Suite
5)Wild Strawberries

Man, that was hard, I've probably got 20 that would work as well as these five.

This one ain,t as tough as "list your favorite song",but it gives you a little playing space. They,d go about like this:
1)Minstrel of the Dawn
2)Knotty Pine
3)Ghosts of Cape Horn
4)Affair on 8th Avenue
5)All the Lovely Ladies
Now,if it were Gordy AND the Lightfoot Band, the list would read different. This list is just to hear Gord and his guitar.jack beanstalk

Mist O' The Morn' 04-03-2003 10:34 PM

This is rather difficult. I will go with two weeks worth, i.e., first five in the first week and another five in the second:

Affair on 8th Avenue
Home from the Forest
If Children Had Wings
Second Cup of Coffee
Bitter Green

and for the 2nd week:

A Minor Ballad
That Same Old Obsession
Lazy Morning
Protocol
I'm Not Supposed to Care

and if there are substitutions:

Shadows
In My Fashion
A Lesson In Love
10 Degrees and Getting Colder
It's Worth Believin'

Bound for the Ghosts of Cape Horn

------------------
restless shadows

Man, just got home from work and on the way home I opened the moon/sun (how do you know which is which?) roof and turned up Shadows, what a ride. Although i think the neighbors through the hoods that I went might not have thought so, it was a bit loud...pity, cause I was just cooling my jets...
14 karat gold
In my fashion
Heaven Help the Devil, May he Have a Few Unpleasant Memories
Thank You
For the moment,

2Much2Lose, I love the seaside atmosphere you described. If I close my eyes, I can picture myself there with all the sounds, smells etc... In that vein, my 5 songs would be:
Christian Island
Ordinary Man
Race Among the Ruins
On the High Seas
Now and Then

Wes Steele 04-05-2003 05:02 PM

It's Worth Believin'
Forgive Me Lord
Now & Then
Looking At The Rain
Ordinary Man

The first song I ever heard by Gord was in the late 1960's. that one is First. To choose 5 is tough. Even 25 could be tough. Here goes:
1. Canadian Railroad Trilogy
2. Don Quiote
3. Affair on 8th Avenue
4. Song for a Winters night
5. Mother of a Miner's child

This list could change weekly.

Yes, difficult to pick 5 without revising it every few minutes.
How about this then.
If you could only have one album/cd, which would you pick?
Now that's a tough one!

1 album, huh? Not to nitpick, but who is this unseen person that's telling me I can only have 1 GL Album??!! Just who has this kind of authority? I mean really! Just,"Sundown?" Just,"Shadows?" Just A Painter Passing Through? Just a Jenny Cotton pickin' minute here! I'll have any Ole' Dan' Records I choose! Don't like it? Well that's just Knotty Pine with me! 1 album indeed!.....(Is he gone? Good. Gwen,
I'll get Songbook, you get Dream Street Rose, we'll get together and make our own one album, although it would be big!

GREAT! Songbook encompasses so much but, not it all... and neither does Dream Street Rose but, I love it! We can have a Gord party, all will be great.

I couldn't bring myself to choose only 5 when this thread first started, but now that it's come up again, I think my five would be:

1. Affair On Eighth Avenue
2. Go My Way
3. I'll Tag Along
4. Tattoo
5. Make Way For The Lady

If Gord were to ask me what songs he could sing for me, here is my initial response, however if he asked me again in an hour it more than likely would change. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif
1) High & Dry
2) Seven Island Suite
3) Summer Side Of Life
4) The House You Live In
5) The Watchman's Gone

And for Gwen who inquired about the 5 best protest songs ... well what about:
1) Summer Side Of Life
2) Black Day In July
3) Patriot's Dream
4) Protocol
5) Miguel -okay, so I couldn't think of any more http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif
