LOL Denny as a former left hander I failed to spot that the original had been reversed

next item:-
A current ebay auction has revealed to me for the first time that Gord's cover of Dylan's Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues was issued as a single and reached number 8 (at least on Toronto radio
station CHUM's hit parade listing in November 1965)
http://i4.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/ac/6b/935f_1.JPG
I recently obtained a slightly different live recording of this from Gord's 1965 appearance on the Johnny Carson Tonight show. and it is quite splendid and slightly different to the issued one on the single record

OK Negatiations
For anybody who does not know this is the title of another Les Pouliot penned ditty that Gord recorded very early on as a single (one of the collection that surfaced in 1971 on the AME (I can't refind it but I once saw that AME stood for American something beginning with an "M" Entertainment_anybody else know??) compilation album "Early Lightfoot" that Gord and Richard Harison took axes to one day in an unsuccesful attempt to eradicate that unauthorised and unwanted issue
There may be some here who have yet to hear this recording to whom I recommend a visit to a new ebay auction at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Gordon-Lightfoot...QQcmdZViewItem
where you may play a clip of the recording on a new feature I have not seen on Ebay b4
a built in media player " Auction Player"

Re: A new Ebay topic.I am feeling too lazy to search for one of my old ones!!!

I just realised that my previous posting here concerned a rare live version of a Bob Dylan's
song and I just refound the very strange lyrics
Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, © 1965 by Bob Dylan

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez and it's Easter time too
And your gravity fails and negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs when you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there and they really make a mess outa you

Sweet Melinda, the peasants call her the goddess of doom
She speaks good English and she invites you up into her room
And you're so kind, too careful not to go to her too soon
Then she steals your voice and leaves you howling at the moon

Up on housing project hill it's either fortune or fame
You must pick one or the other though neither of them is what they claim
If you're lookin' to get silly you'd better go back to from where you came
Because the cops don't need you and man they expect the same

I started out on burgundy then I soon hit the harder stuff
Everybody said they'd stand behind me when the game got rough
But the joke was on me, there was nobody there to even call my bluff
I'm going back to New York City I do believe I've had enough
I'm going back to New York City I do believe I've had enough

Thanks to the kindness of a corfid poster my wife received a most wellcome birthday present last year a set of 4 GL coasters
I will admit that I initially thought when I saw the first auction that this was a terrible waste of perfectly good vinly albums but the creator continues to offer them and I have to say that Susan has had enormous pleasure from her set which gets proudly shown to all visitors who visit her Lightfoot den.
I just spotted the current auction for a 4 coaster set which differs because instead of being made from 4 random discs is actually claimed to be the four sides of the original 2-LP Gord's
Gold issue which presumably infers that each disc centre has been split into two, not an easy task I imagine
the thumbnail below links to a somewhat larger image as currently on the auction page. Don't all rush at once to bid for it though
For reference no bids yet and the Starting bid is US $16.99
Auction End time: Oct-02-07 16:00:00 PDT

There is a View First Unread link right at the top of every thread. My index finger doesn't hurt at all!

OK whilst that is a valid observation things are actually even better
whilst you are signed in click the User CP link at the top left of any forum page
scroll down to
Thread Display Options
the first block headed is "Visible Post Elements"
and includes these wise words
You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts.
No sniggering please my posts may get long but nothing in them is extraneous!
therefore dialup suffering surfers can elect to uncheck the option to
"Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)"
the very next block is headed "Thread Display Mode"
Here you can choose the display mode for threads. For a full explanation of the modes, please view this help page.
which informs you;
"When viewing a thread, you will be able to view the thread from a choice of four modes.

Linear Mode (Oldest First) - In this mode, posts are displayed chronologically from oldest to newest. Posts are shown
in a flat mode so that many posts can be viewed simultaneously.
Linear Mode (Newest First) - This is the same as the above mode, except that posts are ordered in an opposite way
(newest first).
Threaded Mode - In this mode, a tree is shown along with every post. This tree allows you to see the relationship each post
has to others, in terms of who responded to whom. Only one post is shown at a time.
Hybrid Mode - This mode is a mixture of the linear and threaded modes. The post tree is displayed like in the threaded mode,
but multiple posts are displayed simultaneously like in the linear modes."
In fact as set up now there is a drop down list that only includes two of these four options
Tada Tada
Linear - Oldest First
Linear - Newest First

I set mine to newest first which abviates any scrolling to see the latest postings
Wonderful thanks again Florian dear boy

Further to the above. One thing it took me quite a while to fathom out is that when you are viewing "Newest first" a multi page thread despite the pop ups that you get if you mouseover the page numbers example:_
http://johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/i..._numbering.jpg
the pages themselves are also in reverse order so in the above case the first posting is actually on page 2 not 1 and page 1 is the page containing results "26 through 41"
Florian can this be corrected by you or is the program at fault??
Moreover even the numbers that are shown are in fact incorrect because on that thread page 2 actually only contains poostings 1 to 16 and page 1 has 17-41
As Sean Connery would say "Shurly Shome Mishtake"!!
Any of you Illinoisians who do not have the very nice 1973 Chicago PBS audio only CD (no video exists AFAIK)
might care to look at a newish auction on ebay for a CD with quite smart artwork
http://i7.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/b1/1f/2f66_1.JPG
the alleged "import" CD front
the current auction does not include the CD jewel case back inlay artwork but I have saved it from a previous auction. albeit it was only a small image so the following enlargement is necessarily blurry
(no your eyes are OK trust me!!

Re: A new Ebay topic.I am feeling too lazy to search for one of my old ones!!!

an opportunist bootlegger is offering an Audio CD on ebay claiming obviously falsely that it
"Comes shrink wrapped with full color factory inserts.
"Whisper My Name" - The Soundstage Special - PBS - 1979"
http://i11.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/ab/d8/3669_1.JPG
As far as I know that concert recording is/was basically and usually a full video and whilst the picture quality is rather poor and indicates that it was made from a multi-generational copy the sound is fairly respectable so possibly this is quite a nice concert CD as well as yet
another piece of home made CD artwork, albeit with a disgusting choice of fonts for the names of the album and artist
