OK today it is Sit Down Young Stranger
this has just replaced a fine Ralph McTell recording in my mind that seemed to get played often on my wife's laptop's huge Media Player collection of tracks despite purportedly playing on shuffle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4WOslek5D4 It became engrained because it includes this familiar line repeated several times Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. SDYS of course has the following words referring to the same event They treated him so badly How could he wish them well |

Re: your favourite Lightfoot song today... and ONLY TODAY
I think "The Watchman's Gone" will always be my favorite, due to the exquisite interplay between Gord's 12 string and Terry's 6 string, but "She's Not The Same" has risen to the number 2 position for quite some time. Something about the chord structure, steel guitar, and restrained synthesizer/electric piano really gets to me. And of course, Gord's voice all during "Shadows" is just burnished and full. I love that song. What Gord is conveying in the lyrics, is secondary, sorry if that's wrong.
