does anyone know, ummm, whether the regular cook is still alive? fate, eh...

"The "old cook" in the song was actually a replacement for the voyage as the normal cook was too ill to make the voyage"

Great news! On my local Fox affiliate (Channel 10.1) last night, they actually talked about the 35th Anniversary of the shipwreck. :)

They,of course, mentioned Gordon's song as well and they interviewed the Priest/Recverend at the Church and even showed clips of the vessel and reporters in 1975. :) It was mentioned that the lighthouse "bulb" had malfunctioned as well and then 17 miles from shore, they vanished off the radar.

It ended with a Fox reporter stating,"It remains a mystery, other than the storm itself,as to what actually caused the sinking." Huh? I thought we all knew that by now.

I wonder if any othr Fox stations around the country ran the same story? I;m sure glad they did. ;)

I happened to be watching The Weather Channel on the day of the anniversary, and while they didn't have anything new to say, it was rather interesting to get a glimpse of the inside of the museum. It looked to have several very interesting displays there. I just wish that they had done more than make a passing mention of Lightfoots song about the event.

came across this on the tube on the weekend:
